Can I defoliate lightly during flower after week 3?

My plant is doing very well however the fan leaves having gotten a bit much. I'm about to go into week 5 of flower and I'm wondering if I can remove a few fan leaves to help lower humidity and increase light penetration to the other bud sites?

I'm on the side of both Hashy and HerbalEdu here... defoliation is definitely beneficial for such a bushy plant as yours but do it selectively and slowly! Flowers need light to grow big - the more light, the better! They may be getting more light when the tent is closed up - but they'll get even more if large fan leaves aren't between them and the light! And no, I have yet to see any cannabis plant that grows more leaves if you remove some leaves... Be selective - choose leaves that are blocking bud sites - and go slowly so you don't overly stress the plant... do a little today, wait about 3 days and do some more... I've defoliated all the way up to 2 weeks before harvest! Good luck!

Hi friend, You got the right instincts. Some times an "hair cut" can be such a relief ;) I like to remove some of the big on top to unblock some light to the lower canopy. After that if there's any in the lower canopy in shadow areas that I can't unblock I remove them too. Good luck ;)

hey there Nubzzz, turns out defoliation is not really what you're after. That's because first off when you close the tent the brightness is really much bigger than when you're opening it and poking inside. as you can see , your plant is sort of growing in a bush shape , normally a plant grows towards the light, here you see all parts of the plant growing symmetrically , meaning when the tent is closed there's light that's coming from all directions. Meaning the shadows you think you see are only the shadows that are there when the tent is open and your head is in the way. when the tent is closed the shadows arent there . Anyways next thing is this : during flower you want the plant to flower. if you remove leafs the plant will make more leafs, it's just a distraction at the end. This is my advice based on some understanding how light and shadows work. Hope this helps growmie ! 🚀

Yeah you can. Just be selective. Don't remove a leaf just for the sake of it. Make sure removing it will benefit other parts of the plant.
