Using pH down to lower soil ph

How much pH down can I add to water to safely lower the pH of my soil? It's h frog and I've only watered a couple times. They were rootbound when got in 1g and I transplant to 3g. Ph is like 7.5-.8.5 with a soil gauge. Any other ideas? Thanks folks.

You never want to adjust out of range. As others have said your plants look good so no need to get it in range by flushing with PH water. Continue as normal, But make sure your water is in the range of 6.0-7.0. Never go out of that range even when adjusting.

good advice on flushing with soil. I only ever do it if their is something really wrong with the plant and I hate doing it. normally only ever needed if you have overfeed the plant and its burning alive. I also agree on that your plants look fine and your over thinking it. The other point to remember is that in soil the PH is altered by incorporating sulphur or lime, to make it lower or higher when mixing it in. To much can be harmful. Granted soil is really good at managing its own PH range with all the life that is inside it. Mine sticks at 6.8 and I ph my water down to 6.5 and when I use some stuff the water hits 6.2. If anything I could put a bit of sulphur to get it down to 6.6-6.5 but its still within my range. Hydro is more PH swing sensitive. Good Luck!

Seems Ezzjay was already dropping some knowledge as I was typing. Good info there.

Are the plants showing any symptoms or signs they are being affected by the soil ph. As far as I am aware 6.0 is as low as you want to aim for soil If the plants are not showing any deficiency or stress symptoms I might question the reading the gauge is giving me. Also haven't checked the grow log yet but if you are running organic amendments I wouldn't be too worried unless you are seeing something wrong.

Flushing is not necessary, and usually more harmful in soil. They look healthy. Don’t over react I’d just manually adjust my watering / nutrients pH. There’s also natural amendments that you could add to help stabilize long term I believe. Now, how much pH down is dependent on speci Water sources.. you need a pH pen or at least some strips to know how much to use. I use approximately 1-1.5 mL per gallon to drop from 7-7.5 to 6.0ish.. but it depends what’s in the water source etc, not just the starting pH

Flush it out with PH'd water until the runoff is within range (6.0-6.5) - from there on, you need to make sure anything you give her (water, feed) is PH balanced as well... Good luck!
