I start checking the trichome color with a 40x led lighted jewelers loupe (amazon.com) when 50% of the white pistils have dried and turned orange. It's good practice to watch them turn from mostly clear to 1/2 cloudy then cloudy/milky then turn amber. Most growers like to harvest when the see a mix of mostly cloudy/milky with 5% to 30% amber depending on what type of high you like. The trichomes will still continue to turn amber for a few days after harvest. Just remember to look at the trichomes on the calyx not the sugar leaves to judge when they are ready. The main cola will ripen a bit faster so you can harvest that when it's ready then wait 5-6 days to take the lower buds to ripen more. Good luck happy harvesting.👌

You can harvest when they are ready ... you can onkw they are ready by taking a look to the trichomes with a magnifier. The trichomes maturarions of a main colas cut 1 or 2 weeks before the lower buds will not be the same than the late cut lower buds so maybe you'll have 2 types of effects for the same weed.

Use a macro lens for your phone, a jewelers loupe, or a microscope to check the trichomes on the buds(not the sugar leaves). When you are ready for harvest is a lot of preference, but most people harvest when there are little to no clear trichs left, most trichs are milky, and there's 10%-20% amber. If you want a more body/couchlock high let em go longer to get more amber trichs. If you want a racier more head high you can harvest with less amber. Without looking at the trichs there's, unfortunately, no real way to tell if the plant has 100% finished or not. You can look at the bud structure and get an idea of when to start checking trichs but its not a good way to tell when the plant is at its peak. Based on how your plants look, I would say you probably have a little while to go still. The buds look like they could still bulk up a bit more. I never go by the breeder estimates for harvesting because they are almost always too short. I use their estimate as a timeframe of when to start looking at the trichs and watching em develop. All of my grows have taken 2-3 weeks longer than breeder estimates and I have actually accidentally cut some plants down too early as well. I grew some autos and the breeder said 80 days sprout to harvest. I went 85 days and then chopped because I was anxious to finish and start my next grow. I looked at the trichs after I chopped and I had maybe 1% amber and 15%-20% clear left. The high was okay, but nothing like it would have been if I had harvested a week or 2 later.
