Defoliating Autos

Hi I am wondering what you experienced auto growers would do. I am starting to have stretch and a few preflowers showing. Would you defoliate, if so to what extent. Bottom 10”, upper fans, etc. On photos I would, but idk with autos and dont want to stunt them too much. Thanks

I defoliate my autos all the time and it is very beneficial. The key to it is to not take a lot at once to prevent stress, and I normally remove anything in the shadows at the bottom and any large fan leaves that cover any flower sites.

From the picture every budsite from the top cannopy seems to receive light , if the lower buds aren't then you can defoliate enough to let the light shine on them or if they are too small then you can cut then to redirect the energy to the upper buds sites.

Hi SAC87 I will recommend not to do super heavy defoliation on Autoflowers. But you don't have a problem by Removing any leaves at the top in the way off lower bud sites. Or to get more Air circulation around buds. I do slight defoliation a few leaves every other day so not to much stress caused at once. Removing anything in the way off ligh or bud sites. Don't over defoliate plants still need photosynthesis. Hopefully this helps and good luck with finishing her off. Happy Growing

I would only defoliate the middle plant, I would take a few leaves off it if they're blocking nodes. And then trim the lower stuff after the stretch.

I do mine after the stretch. I’ll tie back if I can. I don’t do anything crazy just a couple that block light.

I defoliate after the two weeks of stretching in flowering. Zero issues imo. You can check my super lemon diary for a reference if you want.
