Brix Content

Mospeadastarted grow question 5 years ago
Has anyone ever tested the Brix content of their plants? My focus on the grow is to increase pectin and Brix levels by pumping calcium into the plant. Just interested in some figures for cannabis plants.

To be honest I'm not actually focusing on Brix itself. I just wanted to increase plant defence and sturdiness to it's maximum with calcium. So basically I want to use it as a means to test how effective my Ca uptake has been. Aside from Brix it has helped keep my inner canopy healthy and fresh. I didn't defol one side of my tent and I'm seeing zero issues with high humidity and the potential for budrot. My theory is that the increased pectin in the interstitial space between cell walls is counteracting high humidity because it s pectin not water that is sitting there.

Why only calcium? When I started growing indoors a little more than 2 yrs ago, I did a ton of reading. In my experience, I have found that using a quality Cal-mag each and every watering (I'm using a very intense LED), a potassium silicate supplement for sturdy stalks and using a good humate such as URB organic, and then Hi-Brix Molasses for Plants as 'food' for the soil microbes and my plants are as healthy as can be. "Feed the soil, not the plants" is what I live by and I can see my plants thanking me for my research :) I only feed the URB and Sturdy Stalk supplement every other watering and the MFP on feed days.
