Canopy clearance

I'm growing a photoperiod and been using the SF1000d light. Having to run the light much closer to the canopy than suggested during the entire process. I'm in flower currently and she still looks healthy as close as 6 inches from the light. Is this normal? Is my light below spec?

depends, if the plant is growing well and not showing signs of light stress or nodes being to tight it could just be the strain or it could mean your lights a bit off. but it is only 100W. assuming your dimmer is set to 100%? that model may not have the dimmer on it though. so if you can measure how many watts its pulling from the wall will also tell you how well its working. should be pulling around 100W if not, then its not working right. I would guess that 6" is a bit to close but never used that light. recommended hang height is 12-18" for a 2x2 in flower Your plant looks a bit compact to me, I would say you could raise the light a bit. but its not crazy bunched up.

You're doing the right thing, listening to what the plant is saying and not the specs made by the light seller who never ever popped a bean :) It's a 100w light which is a on the scrappy side for a 2x2 tent, keep it as close as you can while still covering the entire plant and make the most of it. And like the other guy said do check if it's on max. If you wanna grow some real nasty drippin' trichs in there, add another light or two :)
