Has anyone any relevant and useful knowledge in light schedule (ie. 12/12 or 6 on 6 off) manipulation, even if experimental data or personal experience?

The plants need 12 hours of UNINTERRUPTED darkness to flower, which means that something like 6/6 will not trigger flowering. What I've read about is something called extended light schedule: With a digital timer, you set lights for periods of 21:36 hours (21 hrs 36 mins) and lights off periods of 12 hours), this will give you an exact week that has 5 extended days (for a total of 33 hours 36 mins per "day"). The data I read states that the aditional light hours increases yield. Also important, going over 21 or 22 hours of light does nothing since there's a point where the added light reaches a saturation point and the plant can't use it. I havent tested it though

I can only say I've had bad experiences with 24 hour light periods. I know many growers stand by this and some it works for, but mine got light burn and just in general unhealthy when i used this. I find my veg plants are happiest with the 18/6 and a higher humidity 60 + and a warm day and night 75-90 day and 65-70 nights, when your nights get in that 60 degree temp theyre more available for powdery mildew etc. Having my flowering period go to the 12/12 and sometimes a bit lower like 13/11 at the end seemed to be good as long as it was consistent. If your humidity could raise a bit and give them a few hours darkness and a small night temp increase they might be a little happier. Good luck ✌️ happy growing

Hi @Green_Friends_Inc! Manipulating time (light schedule) is a good way to speed up the whole process of flowering, but yield will be affected. It's essentially recommended for growers trying to make a plant survive until harvest (from hardcore conditions). Patience is the key ;-) Happy growing! 👊

Hello ! You are growing photoperiodic so in veg you need 18/6 and you can go with a 20/4 or 24/24 light schedule but the 18/6 is working great. In flowering 12/12 is the best , I'm growing outdoor and we have a light schedule that goes from 11/13 to 14/10 and my plants are still flowering but it's not optimal. I hope it will help you 😁👍

There's a couple reasons why you don't wanna play with the lights too much , firstly if say you started at 18/6 you plant thinks its in veg so it tries to grow then all of a sudden you change the lights to 12/12 it causes stress to the plant even tho it can handle it so now your plant thinks its time to flower so it gets organised to flower then bam you change the lights again back to 18/6 or 6/6 for this example you plant is going to be go into shock and not know what to do and it can stay like that for quite some time and it can have an even more adverse effect like turning your ladies into hermies which who wants that haha . You must understand that plants need a 12 hours photo period during flower and 4-6 hours during veg . This helps the plant recover and produce more foliage or in flower it would help produce more flowers . Six hours and and 6 hours off isn't enough your plant will go into shock and just stop growing all together because there isn't enough of either cycle and this will likely cause an immense amount of stress to your plants . If i were you I would just leave them at 12/12 this way you minimise the risk of any unwanted stresses or possibly even turning your plants hermie which is far worse :( In the end the choices are yours if your doing it for science have at it but i wouldn't recommend doing it just for fun because you will hurt your yield immensely as well as the potency of the plant . Over all over looking your diary your plants are in great shape well on there way to making you some nice medicine ! I hope this information helps you in understanding what your plants need in terms of light cycles and why as well as the damages that can be done if you play around with them too much . -Happy Growing!
