Hey buddy some good answers here already but yeah depends on what your medium "Was" if you were using soil then forget about it will most likely die from stress or break up in the water and drown. Rockwool and a few clay pebbles is were you wanna be at and I usually leave about 3 cm from the bottom of pot or until the roots are touching the feed as that way you don't haveto top feed. I would always advise starting in rock wool when using DWC

Water level depends on what your using as your growing medium. My grows are 100% clay pebbles ( NO rockwool, rapid rooter to germinate. I place the rooted seed 1" down and cover with clay pebbles. Top water once a day for 4 days) Water level I have even with the bottom of the 6" net pot and have no issues. But if you germinate in something that holds water and that is placed in the clay pebbles then I would go with 1-2" below the net pot to avoid drowning as the rooting material can get over saturated. Air pump is needed from day 1( to splash water onto the net pot and keep the water from going stagnant. If you have no water movement/ no oxygen in the water it will promote root rot. Technically you don't need an airstone and can get away with top watering daily until the tap root drops into the water. But adding air you get way more growth, ward off root rot and can grow a bigger plant. Lookup "Kratky Method" to see a no air stone setup. Happy Growing

I add one layer of hydroton to the bottom of my net cups. Then I add my rapid rooters or rockwool into the middle of the net cup and put hydroton around the outside and a layer over the top for the seedling to sprout through. I then set the net cup 1 inch above water line and add aeration so its splashing into the net cup keeping everything moist but not soaked. Sprouts everytime. Good luck !

The water level needs to be below the bottom of the net pot, otherwise you'll drown the roots.

Hi I normally would have the water level about an inch to 2 inch away from the net pot with the airpump running 24/7. The bubbles popping usually keeps the base of the net pot quite moist and within no time the roots are coming out the basket. When iv done it my cube is about half way down in the net pot. I think if you have the water level to high its got a chance of drowning the seedling especially if the water level is a bit higher then the base of the net pot. Wait for a few more answers because lots of people probably all have different methods of doing things.
