72 hr dark period before harvest

2 weeks back I thought she could have 4 weeks to go. Now I think she only has a week. If she has a week to go should I go with a 72 hr dark period to give her some added stress?

Darkness really was a myth and bro science. The best thing you can do is lower the temperature when the plant is maturing. I used to do it, but stopped. Have I noticed a difference? Not really, but science is science, and theories like this are not rooted in any truth.

I do not recommend a 48-72 hour period of darkness. It is during the day, through photosynthesis, that terpenes and cannabinoids are synthesized. What happens during the dark period is that lower temperatures can prevent terpenes from evaporating as much. You can watch Bruce Bugbee talk about this on YouTube; he actually recommends 48 hours of light if you want that kind of stress. What I do instead is nutrient stress: cutting nitrogen in late flower to focus the plant’s energy on the buds and lowering the temperature during the final weeks.

Why the obsession with unnatural stress. You are not even trying to replicate anything in nature. At what point in it's life in nature would a photoperiod plant be subjected to 72 hours of dark. Where is your logic coming from... Try to use some common sense rather than reading some bullshit online and choosing to believe it because it sounds great.. My mother always did say the trouble with common sense is that it's just not that common. She's right.😔

No, this is ghetto science and does not give any benefit to THC quality based on scientific/botanical facts. How can a plant in total darkness for an extended period of time and with a non functioning metabolism magically increase anything??? It just can not happen!

During day time in those 72 hours will bring more weight, trichs and maturity to plant, than stressing it for nothing during total darkness. Myth. I tried it myself, saw no increase or need. Use only if i cant harvest at time, but dont want to water more, then i do 36-48 hours of darknes for not overdrying plant and finding right time from work or other activities and chop girls.

All of that darkness before harvest stuff is nothing but bro science I know because I have tried most of them and they do nothing or in some cases the stress induced can even make them hermie so in short just let them finish naturally with normal amounts of water NO FLUSHING the main and most important parts are harvesting at the right time drying them slowly but surely then an adequate curing time that will make your buds better , not the bro science stuff

Mep. Flushes, dark rests. I do agree about drying in darkness. But, once lights are out. And the photochrome affect stops. And plant is fully asleep. Takes about 2hrs for a plants photosynthesis (photochrome affect) to stop even in pitch black. So, anything past this point. You're just prolonging harvest. I've harvested over 150 plants. Many phenos, I've dried in every way you can except proper dry/curing fridge..like 2500$ so I think whole harvests work just as good. I've dry harvested. Ive trimmed wet and manicured net shelf dried, box dried etc etc.. The best, whole harvest and hang it upside down. After 4-5 days. Remove all the limb big leaves. It'll allow more natural airflow over the areas (don't blow air directly on your plant, just good ventilation) Then as it moves on. Break it into sections, trim your sugars leaves and store, rehang and the buds should dry up properly AND MOST IMPORTANTLY slow. 10-14 days. THE LONGER the better. So make sure you heavy water feed days and the day of harvest

No reason to give plants a dark period. The last week of flower i lower the PAR. Reason behind this is that plants are transpiring less. This will not stress the plants out and will keep the flowers bulking in the last week.

High beautiful toe, The only thing that 3 days of dark period does is taking away 36 hours of that beautiful light from your grow lamp and preventing that photosynthesis to fatten up those nice fat, juicy and sticky buds. Happy Growing Buddy! 💚

No pure darkness is bro science, just harvest at the end of a light cycle or at the end of the dark cycle. Been tested and doesn't do shit.

If you want your plant to lose plant mass the last 72hours, sure, go for it. That might artificialy boost some percentages of thc or terps some small amount, but only because you shrunk the denominator starving the plant.
