When is the right time to remove LST clips?

Hi Growers, I’m using LST clips for the first time. I probably started a bit late but better late than never. Now I’m wondering, when is the right time to remove them? I assume it’s when the stem starts getting too thick for the clip, but I’d love to hear your advice!

I remove them once the clips start to get too tight. After a certain period of time, they should keep their shape

I use them for maybe a week or less it depend on the plant really. but be careful with those as they can damage the stem if you leave them for too long...

Your right, once stem gets thicker you'll need to remove it. The branch may try and correct itself a little but it won't manage to correct itself as it was.

Before it damages the stem. No need to damage the vascular tissue.

Hey, buddy! Well, I think it depends a lot on the strain. With some strains, I've used the clips for a few days without any problems, but with others, the branches have broken in just 24 hours. I think it's best to check on them from time to time to see how they're doing. Cheers, and good luck with your grow!

You got it right buddy. Remove clips once the branch has developed enough stiffness to stay bent on its own without snapping back. Definitely remove them if the clip starts to dig into the stem, as this can damage the plant.

The plant will attempt to move stems around how it wants to until mid flowering where it no longer is interested in growing stem material, and the amount of correction it will attempt is minimal. You'll notice the tops of the plant are flexible, more than older growth. Older growth hardens and resists change. So when your area being trained by a clip or wire has aged, it will more or less stay in that bend. Its an age thing. Which varies from plant to plant so there is no set time. If it has new growth above that trained area and its been there 3, 4 weeks, its going to stay and you can take the clip off for sure. You can always take the clip off, see what happens, and put it back later if needed. Don't over think it. Just roll with it. You'll be training the next ones too, but it will make more sense and be easier to make decisions as you watch and observe the plants. Nothing wrong with asking, but also try some stuff and watch patiently to see. Its the best teacher. I use gardening wire. Maybe try that too for some situation. I love it.
