Should I chop the severely damaged side shoot or keep pushing for recovery?

Accidentally split the main junction during mainlining. Left shoot is recovering, but the right one is severely stunted. Should I chop the damaged shoot and run a 3-main setup, or keep taping it and hope for recovery? What would you do?

if it's healed, it'll be fine at this point... do better with splinting or otherwise taping it back together and shouldn't have any issues next time.. I'd judge it by current growth and do what you think is best. If it's growing fine 'today' just leave it. Maybe don't top that one again and let it catch up to others if you top them etc... kinda depends on context as to how to handle it. if it fucks with your training plans, cut it off... no biggie.. worst thing is that it slows you down slightly in vege. i would keep an eye out for hermied on this plant.. not a huge concern, but anytime i split a stem it seems to be a higher probability. could be wrong on that. i have specific goals for number of colas per plant. so when this happens to me I do whatever is best to keep up with the rest of the canopy. If that means 1 or 2 fewer colas, so be it. I can't negatively impact 7 other plants for the sake of 1. Context will dictate what you do.

I’d give her a little more time before chopping it. If the damaged shoot is still green and showing any new growth, it’s obviously still connected and getting nutrients. Keep the split supported/taped and avoid putting any more stress on that junction. If it completely stalls or starts dying back, you can always remove it later and go with the 3 mains. Cannabis can be surprisingly good at repairing this kind of damage. 💪

ooo thats a bummer. you do not need to cut it though. I always have some grafting tape on and to help small wounds. and even to hold entire branches on until they heal. i had some like this on my silver widow,i just let them heal and they are holding up fine. they were at the top though not at the bottom bearing weight. Kind of like a metal weld, once the plant heals itself the mend will be stronger than it was before.
