Week 3 had 1/3 plants showing a clear Cal-Mag deficiency. After flushing with 0 TDS, 6.0 pH water, I noticed the TDS/PPM of the run-off was FAR too high. The plant with the obvious deficiency showed over 4k TDS/PPM runoff, while the other 2/3 had close to 2k TDS/PPM run-off or lower. Plants were flushed until reaching 1,000 - 2,000 TDS/PPM runoff or lower. Now a few days into Week 4, plants are just beginning to let off a nice dank smell. The plant that was in the worst condition is seemingly still not perfect, but has made positive progress. The other two plants have been far better all around. There was minor signs of a Cal-Mag deficiency in one of them, however it was quickly tended to and is seemingly doing well. Note: 4-4-4 and 4-8-4 fertilizers were both added to the medium before germination. This is more than likely how I've come to encounter TDS/PPM issues with my run-off, considering none of these plants have ever received a feeding higher than 300 TDS/PPM. As a noob, I wasn't aware that adding these fertilizers to the medium (mostly coco coir) might be a bad idea, as opposed to using bottled nutrients. I believe this is where my TDS/PPM issues are stemming from and am not going to use any bottled nutrients for the rest of this grow.

I noticed some growth that looked like seed pods on my plants. I am completely new to growing, so I was wondering what you guys thought. Is this normal bud growth, or are these seed pods? I removed a few and there was seemingly nothing inside.

These are female calyxes and completely normal for female plants. You are correct, they are indeed seed pods, but unless fertilized with male pollen, will remain empty/seedless. Masses of these calyxes result in the "buds" we smokers all seek. The older primordia/pre flowers that occur near the stems mature first and this is why they are much larger and swollen in comparison to the calyxes that are now forming in the new flowers. Hope this helps, Organoman.

My harvested weed smells amazing, but tastes horrible. I'd say a bad chemical-like after taste. I thought it was due to poor flushing, but I flushed the 2nd plant for over 2 weeks and the 1st plant for 1 week. Not sure what caused this... Overfertilization? Something else?

U been curing for over two weeks?? First of all, make sure its not mold. Mold leaves a bad weird taste after smoking it. So make sure its properly dry and doesnt have that mold whiff to it when broken up. If thats fine and u didnt spray it with anything like neem oil during the grow move to next point... Second- Sour D takes ages to cure, most of the Chem Dog family does. 2 Months is more like the time u need on that one my friend. I have Sour D im smoking now I harvested last april- And its only been the last few months its settled down and is now very very smooth and easy to smoke. But I rushed the dry, so I admit its partly my own fault but even in years when I dried slower, It still takes longer than 2 weeks to cure. Give it more time and make sure your burping often for another two weeks at least.
