12/28/21: -Plant 1 has begun flowering, while plants 2 and 3 seem to still be a bit behind plant 1. -Plants 2 and 3 are both showing signs of a CalMag deficiency once again, after a few weeks of them looking pretty nice. Going to increase the dosage of CalMag from 3mL/gallon to 5mL/gallon and increase the pH of the water to 6.1-6.2. 1/1/22: -Plant 1 is showing great growth, budding at a dozen locations, if not more. Lacking in height compared to the other two, but also seems to be in perfect health compared to the others. -Plants 2 and 3 were watered to runoff and check pH and TDS/EC of the runoff. pH= 6.2- 6.3 for both TDS= ~2k PPM for both -Readings were fairly good, pH was .2 higher than expected/goal, but still within an okay range for now. Will continue to water with 6.0 water and steady doses of CalMag. -Added far below the recommended dose (.4 tsp/gallon) of Tiger Bloom (2-8-4) to the water to give the plants some direct nutrients for flower production, since they have been completely reliant upon slow release fertilizers until now. Will be using the liquid fertilizer VERY sparingly, if even at all. -Defoliation is pretty much daily for the most part, at least a leaf or two per plant a day on average (if I can't find a means of leaf tucking). Continued LST as necessary as well.

I noticed some growth that looked like seed pods on my plants. I am completely new to growing, so I was wondering what you guys thought. Is this normal bud growth, or are these seed pods? I removed a few and there was seemingly nothing inside.

These are female calyxes and completely normal for female plants. You are correct, they are indeed seed pods, but unless fertilized with male pollen, will remain empty/seedless. Masses of these calyxes result in the "buds" we smokers all seek. The older primordia/pre flowers that occur near the stems mature first and this is why they are much larger and swollen in comparison to the calyxes that are now forming in the new flowers. Hope this helps, Organoman.

My harvested weed smells amazing, but tastes horrible. I'd say a bad chemical-like after taste. I thought it was due to poor flushing, but I flushed the 2nd plant for over 2 weeks and the 1st plant for 1 week. Not sure what caused this... Overfertilization? Something else?

U been curing for over two weeks?? First of all, make sure its not mold. Mold leaves a bad weird taste after smoking it. So make sure its properly dry and doesnt have that mold whiff to it when broken up. If thats fine and u didnt spray it with anything like neem oil during the grow move to next point... Second- Sour D takes ages to cure, most of the Chem Dog family does. 2 Months is more like the time u need on that one my friend. I have Sour D im smoking now I harvested last april- And its only been the last few months its settled down and is now very very smooth and easy to smoke. But I rushed the dry, so I admit its partly my own fault but even in years when I dried slower, It still takes longer than 2 weeks to cure. Give it more time and make sure your burping often for another two weeks at least.
