Dry/Cure Goals ‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾ 🚫 No Direct Air Movement on the Buds ⬇️️ Maintain Drying Room Temperature to 65°F / 18°C ⬆️ Maintain Drying Room RH to 60% ⏱️ Hang Buds for about 11-12 Days 🌦️ Begin Curing at 12-13% Moisture Content ‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾       🌦️  Dry/Cure Day 4    ‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾ The buds from the first day of trimming are now at a point where they can be test smoked. There is still a minty moist chlorophyll taste, but the terpenes are starting to emerge.    Breaking up the nugs and smoking them wet is a great way to monitor bud moisture.       🌦️  Dry/Cure Day 8    ‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾ The smallest stems are beginning to make a snapping noise. This is traditionally thought as the 13% moisture point. These go into the curing bags. Only a few more days until the larger buds are ready for curing. The buds are smoking better, but still have a bit of a “steamy” toke from the moisture content.         🌦️  Dry/Cure Day 12    ‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾ Larger buds are ready for curing. Most of the chlorophyl has degraded and the terpenes are finally allowed to shine through. Some extra buds that happened to dry out too fast have slight hint of hay and zero terpene smell. Looking at buds from the final day of trimming, they are hitting quite smooth for lagging a few days behind. No snapping noise yet. Also, when sampling I notice that the bud creates “dental floss” when trying to pull apart from the stem. This indicates more drying is needed.       🌦️  Begin Curing at 12-13% Moisture Content    ‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾ My local public library has the below book in digital form via a 3rd party online book service. It recommends curing in paper sacks or boxes cardboard with lids. The book specifically recommends AGAINST curing in sealed containers such as glass jars. Previously I used canning jars, which apparently contributed to a mushy “I wonder if it's dry" ammonia-smelling weed.     Marijuana Harvest: How to Maximize Quality and Yield in Your Cannabis Garden   by Ed Rosenthal, David Downs   https://a.co/d/hOjICYX   Below are the book’s recommendations for moisture content.    Drying ends: 14-15%    Curing ends: 11-12%    Pleasant smoke: 10-12%    Harsh dry smoke: 10% or less The moisture meter (see Week17) has been a bit disappointing. I ran across a study that detailed drying and curing practices in the industry. The takeaway? Even within professional circles, curing is still an art rather than a science. The audible snap of the stems is still the gold standard of 12-13% moisture content. No fancy meters yet.    Postharvest Operations of Cannabis and Their Effect on Cannabinoid Content: A Review    www.mdpi.com/2306-5354/9/8/364 As recommended, I have removed the stems and moved the initial batch of trimmed buds to paper grocery bags after verifying the audible snap of the stems. The bags are barely closed using a single binder clip, while still allowing excess humidity to vent. These paper bags are stored in the drying room where conditions will remain the same. From here, I cure for another two weeks.       🌦️  Long Term Storage    ‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾ Once cured, buds will be long term stored using glass jars including 62% Boveda humidity control packs. Although it is true that the curing process does continue during long term storage, I NEVER dry/cure using Boveda packs. Bovedas are for storage only. For the first time, the air inside the jars will be replaced with inert gas used for preserving wine. Nitrogen gas has always been a popular wine preserver; it comes in a can that looks like a keyboard duster. I am now seeing Argon Gas Wine Preserver on amazon as well! Unfortunately, neon gas must still be sourced from a gas supplier.         🚜  Final Weight    ‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾ 6 plants using 5 gallon containers    Cola Buds 352 grams (12.5 ounces)   Smaller “B” Buds 101 grams (3.5 oz)         🚜  My Next Diary is Now Published    ‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾ I am 4 weeks into my next grow diary, and Week G is now published. I will quickly release weeks 1/2/3/4 every few days to bring the diary current.       I am growing the classic strain Green Crack (aka Green Kush). Thanks Cyrus. Thanks Resinus. This is probably my 9th of 10th harvest, experience-wise. With so much BroScience™️ still floating around, I always like to question why when I do something in my grow space. I spent about 4 month straight listening to grow podcasts while doing food deliveries and also research a lot in my spare time. I have hammered out a rough process for myself and figured time to post what I have so far. Teaming with Microbes is a great fucking book. Bruce Bugbee is THE authority on how photons/wavelength/etc interact with Cannabis.

Hey mate, loving the detail in text. I enjoy reading as I find it more informative than photos. The photos for me are the result or the metric or measure, the text is the subject at hand. :) I also like your invention with your own made kit, something I find inspiring. Can you tell us a little about your past growing experience?

@Ezzjaybruh, It's wonderful to hear you inspired to write more... I share your frustrations mentioned and will not elaborate for obvious reasons.

@UnorthadoxDude, after reading this.. makes me want to add more to my diaries than I have been lately. I just have got a bad taste in my mouth with this site of late, for many reasons I won’t go into here.. but I don’t realize ppl might be looking at my diaries for specifics to learn..

I was searching other people's public google drives files for VPD charts. I found a copy of the pulse grow VPD chart that someone apparently converted to a Google Sheets Spreadsheet. Very nice. Thanks for that @gottagrowsometime. I trashed most of my grow equipment before moving to California and am reinventing my environmental control due to the change in local climate.

wow, this an artist's diary. at first I kinda went this path but now I'm so lazy and mostly update the pics and give the viewers an overview of the week... this is much better, thank you and keep it that way! btw, nice girls... they look lovely and I would not worry about any deficiency at this stage, most of the pics I have seen seems to be senescense related. However, the space looks crowdy, you got to watch out for mold and air circulation very closely, but the new dehumidifier will help I guess. I would recommend less plants and mainlines... they get very big and horizontal spread also thriving on the stress! good luck from Brazil! =)

@NegotiatedBubble, thanks for the tip. I have started adding silicate this grow and had no issue with mold or mildew I would say, with the addOn of an AC during 35+ days of flowering. Got myself a 240W Quantum Bar now and this next grow I hope to get some much more potent buds with my new AC during flowering... Hope your new setup fixes any issues. You deserve it, very well orgnized fellow. Congrats! Tchau, do Brazil!

@amazongrow, I live next to a cold water bay and see 68°F / 20°C with 60-70% RB days, and then 50°F / 10°C with 80-90% RH at nights. Typical A/C's are not very good at humidity control when it comes to indoor growing. This applies to drying room conditions as well. In that case, I need very cold + 60% RH, but the A/C running that much will dry the air out about 4 days into my drying session. Previously, I ran small humidifiers in my drying room after that 4 day mark. I will be tweaking this for my new climate. I reduced the LGR Dehu to 40% and managed to get the tent down to 55%. I also defoliated much of the plant to insure against mildew issues. I am going to overlay some cheap vinyl flooring on top of the existing wood floors. This should cut down the amount outside humidity entering the room. If you are not supplementing with Silica, then start now. Silica prevents a lot of mildew diseases such as Botrytis.

@NegotiatedBubble, you have a lung room? a room for air conditiong RH and stuff before sending to the tent? that should be awesome! what are your conditions on the outside world? As I grow in the Amazon, the humidity here is almost 95% outside most of the year (lots of rivers, trees, rain, etc).. once I thought about getting a lung room, but still I had to deal with the temperatures (28C almost all year around).... this time around I have used an AC from day 35+ of flower and the results were just fucking amazing! Having said that, fighting climate is a bitch and its fucking hard! =/ But as you are all organized, I believe its a battle you will win! Congrats, bro!

Loving the info, veritable bank of knowledge you are Negotiated bubble. Making your own LeDs , now that's interesting! Right up my alley. Not now though, my ass is broke from previous ideas :)

@Ultraviolet, a lot of these new "Amazon" lights still do not have the Samsung LM301H diodes. The newer "LM301H EVO" diodes are not for beginners due to missing red spectrum (have to supplement red diodes separately). I only expect to see EVO in commercial setups. All the more reason to build my own!

Looks like congratulations are in order bro! 👏 Awesome work and the buds look rock solid! 👏 Thank you for all the harvesting tips as well, I'll definitely try out the PAM spray, I was using rubbing alcohol... Good points as well on the wet trimming 🙏 I'll be using what I learned from you on my 2 current grows. Best of luck on the drying and curing my friend! 👈

@MedicineMaker, thanks! I learned a ton this time around and was glad to share it. I ran across the below harvesting book and was able to check out the digital version though my local library. The book has a lot of useless "filler", but still a great read toward the end.     Marijuana Harvest: How to Maximize Quality and Yield in Your Cannabis Garden, by Ed Rosenthal, David Downs
