November 29, 2023 Day 85 This week we have a lot of work to do. Firstly, the Strawberry Gorillas are now being flushed with 8 ml/gal of Flawless Finish. Second, Gorilla Cookies 1 is in the last week or so on flower. More like 2 weeks more of flower before flush. She will be getting Overdrive instead of Big Bud. Lastly, Gorilla Cookies 2 now has no grow nutrients and more Tasty Terpenes and Bud Candy. 5 ml each. I kept in the cal/mag for now. Just the same 4 ml I have been using. I may take it out next week. So there is quite a bit to do this week. Then there's the focus on Gorilla Cookies 2. Strawberry Gorilla: Number 1 looks really good. Her buds are fat and heavy. Very nice for such a small plant. The next time I grow this strain it'll be 4 plants all the same. Anyway, she got a full gallon of Flawless Finish and reservoir cleaning and refill also with Flawless Finish. Top watering takes about a week to go through and the reservoir as well. So this should be the only time I need to run it. She should start showing color any day now. Number 2 is also quite healthy even with the light being blocked. With the light higher, it does get a bit more, but not much. She also got a full gallon of Flawless Finish. And a reservoir cleaning and refill. Her leaves didn't get as dark as Number 1, so I don't expect her to take much time fading into something beautiful. Gorilla Cookies: Number 1 looks great! She has huge colas and dense buds throughout the plant. Even the lower parts are pretty dense. She still has a good 2 weeks left in flower before flush, so she should get even fatter and pack on a ton of weight. That being said, this could easily be a 5 ouncer. Maybe 4, but I think 5. She got a full reservoir cleaning and refill with her current flowering nutrients regimen. I did take out the big bud though and am continuing with the Overdrive. Recharge was also added to the top feed. Number 2 is a bit sad today. I'm not really sure what's wrong. It can't be nitrogen toxicity. I don't have any in there to be toxic. Maybe she is a bit over watered? But I doubt that as well as she takes a gallon or more in 2 days. It could be light stress, so I brought the light intensity down to 50% from 60%. If lighting is the problem, that should fix it pretty quickly. She also finally got a reservoir cleaning and refill. Full gallon of her nutrient regimen. No more grow nutes, cal/mag is staying as well. I also added recharge to the top feed. She seems to have finally stopped stretching and what a perfect time to stop. This plant is a total of 50" tall, 9.5" from the light and full of colas. It's a sea of tops with buds literally everywhere. I managed to get in the back and got some of the massive leaves out. Also took the very most bottom branch out. It was doing nothing but flopping over with no buds. That could have also stressed her out. Either way, I think this is the start of mid flower. 4 more weeks to go I think. Grow System Environment: Temp: 74.7° RH: 43.3% VPD: 1.62 kPa November 30, 2023 Strawberry Gorilla: Number 1 is looking good in her first day of flush. I can only imagine how quickly she will start to fade. Her aroma is nearly overpowering now. Her buds have pretty purple and pink hues. She may still be packing on weight. That's ok though, I'm giving her the week and maybe next to fade and then harvest. I'm also looking for amber trichomes. I found a few last week, but haven't bothered looking yet. I'll wait til I see some yellowing. Then I'll check the trichomes. I don't think they will be much changed in the next week. Maybe 5% amber? Either way, if she's ready in a week, then she's ready in a week. 2 weeks, same thing. Whenever she is ready. Number 2 is looking small as ever. However, her buds smell great and are nice and dense. Not much in yield with this one, but it should be tasty. She will be the one to take this flush all the way to the end I think. Same as her sister plant, she will be harvested when she's ready in about a week. Maybe 2. Gorilla Cookies: Number 1 is swelling even more and packing on weight. Her shedding has slowed down a bit. Only one leaf fell and one came off with the touch of a finger. It's funny though, how small she is compared to her sister plant. She's still a 34" tall plant with plenty of colas and bud sites. She will definitely provide a decent yield. Number 2 is completely recovered from whatever stress she was under yesterday. She looks great now. Happy and growing. She should start some stacking any day now. I have to note the sea of tops with this plant. The whole canopy is just tops. Leaves are kind of thinned out up top. I may pop some more off if I can in the next few days. Although, I think I'll leave her alone for the rest of the grow. She definitely will need TLC for the rest of the grow. Somehow I forgot to fill her reservoir yesterday. Although, I swear I did. Anyway it was empty this morning. I know she went drink the whole reservoir gallon in one day, so I forgot to water. Happily, her runoff was still in the reservoir and kept the wick system active. So she got the full reservoir refill with her nutrient regimen. She stopped shedding her leaves. It must have been the ones that really weren't getting light. I'm not complaining. Less for me to do and a safer way of removing leaves. I also won't have to reach in and potentially break a branch or something. Grow System Environment: Temp: 73.1° RH: 45.6% VPD: 1.48 kPa December 1, 2023 I discovered that when I put my light up to the ceiling, it was about 3 inches to the left. I managed to move it to the center, but barely. I may end up taking it down and reinstalling it. Maybe. I don't really think I need to move it anymore. Not to mention that when Gorilla Cookies 2 is alone, the light will have to move anyway, back to that 3 inch offset. That will make it squarely above Gorilla Cookies 2. Strawberry Gorilla: Number 1 is starting to get a purple hue to her leaves. I believe I may have screwed up the first dose of Flawless Finish. It calls for 8 ml/gal but I only did 3 ml thinking the plant wouldn't need all of it to flush out. But that logic is stupid. The Flawless Finish is supposed to prevent the plant from taking in anymore nutrients. Like a beta blocker or something. Anyway, I then realized my mistake. The proper dose is for all plants. I figured this out because of the Strawberry Gorilla in the Overflow Tent. I did the 8 ml dose and it showed immediate results. So I'm going to have to do it again with 8 ml in a few days I guess. However, she is drinking straight water with the Flawless Finish. And drinking it at a decent pace too. Number 2 is in the same situation as her sister plant. Not enough Flawless Finish. I'll have to do the same thing and flush again in a few days. Her leaves are a super healthy green color. Buds and colas are also a beautiful green. I'm guessing that when she fades, she will have beautiful colors. Gorilla Cookies: Number 1 is starting to really pack in the weight now. I already have a smaller branch leaning over because of the weight. Very exciting. I managed to prop it up and lock a couple of its leaves with other branch leaves as anchors. If need be, I'll tie the branch up to a taller branch. Her main top is getting pretty big and starting to chunk up. The other main tops are right behind it. Great color and strong aroma. Number 2 is thirsty. So yesterday I thought I didn't fill the reservoir. So, naturally, I filled it up. Well, this morning was the same thing as yesterday. Near empty reservoir that looked like runoff. So I have now deduced that this lady is drinking a gallon a day. Her branches are hardening off and looking quite nice. The buds are starting to stack and pump out pistils. Her color is quite nice. However, I have a few lower growth sites that are yellow. I think I'll remove those later today. They are all well below the canopy. So definitely not worth trying to keep. As for her foliage, I think I've done as much as I can really. It's not perfect and there's still a lot of it, but there is also some light getting to the bottom of the plant. Not much, but I can only assume that light is penetrating the whole plant fairly well. We shall see. Especially when she's alone in the tent. As I have been doing, I'll pull leaves off as needed. I will try to avoid it as much as possible though. Grow System Environment: Temp: 72.1° RH: 47.6% VPD: 1.37 kPa December 2, 2023 Strawberry Gorilla: Number 1 looks fantastic. She is still drinking water, but slowing down a bit. Just another sign she is close to ready. Her buds put on a little more weight over the past couple of days. Nothing substantial, but I'm sure more dense. I haven't touched the colas in a while. Number 2 is also near finished. She is a bit behind her sister plant, but not much and she will catch up in the next week or so. I'm thinking about a week and a half for this one. Maybe two weeks. Gorilla Cookies: Number 1 has even fatter buds and now the side branches are putting on more weight. I can't wait to see how she turns out. No water needed as her wick system is working in full force. Number 2 is astonishing. At least she is to me. I'm sure there are much better plants out there. But for me, this is insane. She is the biggest plant I have ever grown. Her buds are stacking and the colas are all starting to connect as well. And I mean all of them. The hundred or so tops all have colas connecting up. I really can't wait to see how this one turns out. I still believe I'll get over a half pound out of her. Especially considering the size of the buds on her sister plant. What do you think? Leave a comment. Anyway, her wick system is completely inactive and I have no idea why. She barely drank anything from the reservoir, but she is clearing out the soil. She will definitely need to be watered tomorrow if the bottom feed system doesn't kick in. Grow System Environment: Temp: 73.4° RH: 50.2% VPD: 1.37 kPa December 3, 2023 Strawberry Gorilla: Number 1 needs nothing. She is about halfway through her reservoir and looks great! She's still not fading, but the next refill will have the 8 ml dose. Her buds are nice and purple now. They also seem really heavy. I can't wait to see the yield. Number 2 is still sitting back in her little corner. Her buds look great! Nice and bright with purple hues and getting fatter. She may have a bit longer to go than her sister plant. But still looks great. She is definitely not as thirsty as her sister plant either. But the bottom feed system is active, so that's good. Gorilla Cookies: Number 1 looks astonishing. Her buds are fat and getting heavier. She has about 3 weeks left. She needed a reservoir refill this morning. I used the rest of her top feed regimen. Unfortunately it still has the recharge in it. I'll clean out the reservoir after it empties again. Her aroma is sweet, pungent and loud. Her buds are sticky and the pistils are starting to turn orange now. I'm very excited to see what she produces. Number 2 is looking super nice. Very healthy and happy. Her leaf edges are starting to claw up. A sign of slight light stress. I may drop the intensity back down to 40%. I'll see what she looks like tomorrow. She also needed a full top water today. The reservoir is still full, so I don't think it's active anymore. Booooo, but she is still looking awesome. If I can figure it out, I may just empty the reservoir and top feed for the rest of the grow. Frankly, I'm pretty sure she needs a prime and not the wicks. She doesn't have enough moisture at the bottom and I'm pretty sure the air pruned roots are blocking the wicks. Maybe? I don't know. Anyway, her leaves have stopped shedding and she has some really nice foliage. It's a bit too much, but not that bad. Still a decent amount of light penetration. Great air flow. I have the lower canopy fan running at fullblast to make sure all the plants get a good amount of airflow. Grow System Environment: Temp: 74.8° RH: 48.4% VPD: 1.48 kPa December 4, 2023 Strawberry Gorilla: Number 1 still hasn't started changing colors. I can only assume it is because of only using 3 ml of Flawless Finish. So today, her reservoir was just about empty, so I dumped the rest out and filled it back up with 8 ml of Flawless Finish. This should do it and start the fade very soon. Lots of cloudy trichomes now, but still too many clear and just a couple amber. She's definitely not shedding leaves either. Soon enough I think. I'll be adding a week to her timeline. So maybe 8 to 10 days left. She's there, just needs to start fading and then I'll know she's just about ready. Number 2 is definitely lighter in color. It's most likely due to her not getting much light. Her buds are pretty well developed and pretty dense. I haven't checked the trichomes yet. For one, she is too far back and too buried to get to her without taking her out. So I'm going to add 3 extra days compared to her sister plant. I feel like that should be accurate. I'm still taking them out at the same time. So I'll be waiting for this plant to finish up. She got a full reservoir refill today with 8 ml of Flawless Finish. That should do it to get her started with her fade. Maybe 10 to 15 days left on her. Gorilla Cookies: Number is getting heavier and fatter buds as I expected. Her main top is swaying a bit. It's starting to concern me when I pull her out for the morning pictures and to water her sister plant. That top is really heavy and leans a bit when away from the support of the trellis. She shed a leaf this morning. Just one. She won't be getting a watering until tomorrow. Her soil is nice and moist and the reservoir still has plenty of feed in it. I also added cal/mag back in. I believe she has a deficiency. It's really early, so I'm glad I caught it. Either nitrogen or calcium. Regardless, cal/mag should solve the issue. Number 2 is looking absolutely fantastic. Her buds are stacking and her leaves are a lush green. She does have some spots in the lowest part of the canopy that are in terrible shape. I just don't think they were cut out to be viable. Unfortunately, it's already too late in flower to prune them. So I'll have to leave them be and hope they fall off. If not, oh well. Her canopy is nicely leveled with the exception of the back row. Those are all taller but the same height as each other. The internodal spacing on the back tops is a bit longer than that of the main canopy. It's probably the lack of light they suffered in the beginning of flower. Anyway, they still look pretty amazing. She will be needing a watering tomorrow or a bottom feed this afternoon. But she will definitely need a top feed tomorrow first thing. Maybe before 2 pm today if she really needs it. Currently the soil moisture level is at 24% saturation and it drops really fast. A couple of hours ago, it was at 30%, so it goes really fast. Such a thirsty girl. I will top feed when she hits 15% and I'll keep an eye out for that today. Grow System Environment: Temp: 73.8° RH: 49.9% VPD: 1.39 kPa December 5, 2023 It's the last day of week 12. Everything looks like it's on track and healthy. Strawberry Gorilla: Number 1 is still not showing much in fading. She has a couple leaves that are starting to show signs of purple. It's slow going, but with the increased Flawless Finish, I expect her to come around this coming week. I'm not really going to focus on her as she is just finishing up and needs nothing but water now. I did pluck a leaf off that was just bugging me. She has massive dense buds. Tons of trichomes and just an overall healthy plant. If not a little nitrogen toxic. Just a little though. That will all go away in time. Number 2 is still just sitting in her little overshadowed corner. She looks great from what little I can see of her. Her trichomes are abundant, she has a wonderful green color, but also hasn't started to fade yet. Again, I think it was the lack of enough Flawless Finish. It should be all good this coming week. She won't be getting a top watering this week until the reservoir is empty. Then I plan on flushing and emptying the reservoir of any runoff. Then I'll fill the reservoir up with 8 ml Flawless Finish. Gorilla Cookies: Number 1 is really starting to shine. Her buds are growing dense and getting fatter by the day. Another 2 weeks of flowering for this one, then the flush. She has plenty of time to bulk up even more. I can't wait! Number 2 got her top water today. Regular nutrients no recharge. However I did add 2 ml of base bloom. So now it's at 8 ml. I'll hold off on recharge for this week I think. I don't believe she needs it at the moment. Plus, I just filled her up and forgot tomorrow was the start of a new week. Next top feed will have the recharge in it. That should be about 2 days from now. The wick system is barely active now. I'm not sure what to do with that. I'll just let her drain it slowly as she has been. Also, with the gallon feeding, these is never runoff. I'm wondering if I should be watering even more. Like a gallon and a half every other day. I don't really know to be honest. I don't feel that runoff is all that important in the flowering stage. As long as she gets the food she needs and doesn't get too much, everything is fine. So maybe I won't. Time will tell. She still has a good 4 weeks left of flower. Then most likely 2 weeks of flush. It's a longer grow time than I would have expected, but well worth it in the end. The final product will most likely be around 8 oz. The lower branches are starting to pop out some half decent buds. Nothing monstrous. But decent little buds. They may end up being some dense little popcorn buds. Oh well. However, I do have those lower branches that have yellowing all over and the leaves are drooping so sadly. I know they won't make it, but again, I don't want to prune anything at this extremely important stage of growth. Maybe I'll prune them off toward the end of flower. Just to stress her enough for some last minute trichome production. Grow System Environment: Temp: 73.8° RH: 47.6% VPD: 1.45 kPa

Growdiaries is currently broken, it isn't accepting/posting any new diaries. It's been like this for over a week now. Every time I click save on a new germination diary it says at the top "Something went wrong" The admins are absent it seems.

Did I over water this plant? The other 5 are perfectly fine. Just this one. I may have over watered during the transplant. I'm not sure. Just plain distilled water. Same soil across the board for all plants. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone!

lokos to be a fiar amount of perlite in your soil. overwatering is easy to avoid with simple good habits when watering. water until entire pot is wet. a little runoff ensures this, but not always necessary. wait for top 1" to dry and repeat. how often you fertilize depends on several factors and preferences. the more often you fertilize the less concentrated it sould be, and vice versa for longer periods of time between fertilization. so, if it is ever droopy after these types of irrigation habits, it's the drainagae quality of your substrate that is the cause of any droopiness or water-related issues. 50/50 is a good mix of perlite to soil. stick in that range and you should never see 'overwatering' while stickign to the above standard operating procedure. if you swithc to coco, only need 30% perlite (or similar drainage amendment) if you stick to those ratios fo substrate:drainage amendment, it is impossible to overwater. you might over or under fertilize, but it won't be from too much or too little watering. don't ever tell your self "it's all the same" because it isnt each plant is different gentics and potential different reaction to whatever is in the soil... that soil is not 100% homogenous either. always observe and react... cause and effect... feeling it's all the same is irrelevant and tends to interject personal biases into diagnosing problems. regardless, something specific is happening to the plant you observed looking odd. that's all that matters.. identifying and reacting properly. allow a bit more development before transplant for a rootball that is more robust. when you distrub the rootball that is usually the cause of any transplant shock.. not watering it.. you should always water after a transplant to help settle the substrate around it.. make sure you don't have to fill in any chasms if the form. time your transplants as best you can so it isn't 2 irrigations with very little time between. you don't want it to be as dry as a typical wet-dry cycle, so that the substrate will hold together better with enough moisture in it. deviating 1 time from that normal wet-dry cycle (waiting for top 1" to dry before next), is not the end of the world. but don't make a habit of it. also, in a small seedling tray or starter cup etc, you want to irrigate a bit sooner than 1" deep. in general it's anon issue, because by teh time you have to irrigate a recently planted seed, it's got a tap root all the way to bottom of small starter pots. allowing top to dry reduces risks of pathogens and pests. it keeps a good o2 ratio in soil for roots. it promotes deper roots vs superficial roots that are less effective. this simple method of irrigating provides numerous benefits. remember, you don't pick the volume of water needed... that is a recipe for fucking up substrate equilibrium. feel weight of pot when it is time to irrigate. this can be used as a trigger too. If you water at same weight loss, it requires the same volume of water as before. so, you can dial it in and reduce wasted water.

Autos do have a short life span and I noticed my plants lower leaves did this when I saw nothing else wrong with them. I plucked the leaves and continued watching and checking runoff ppms and ph. I grew in coco so ph wasn't my issue I was worried about ppms. Always follow the 10-20% water runoff rule. And make sure they are not 300ppm or more above your input ppms or your over feeding. Or 200ppms or more "less" then your input ppms. Or your under feeding. Environment plays a role so Google a good vpd chart, I use pulse vpd chart. Make sire your in the correct zone for your current stage of growth! I see nothing wrong but lower leaves dying off due to short life span, although a runoff check will tell you if you're deficient or toxic and then we can go from there! Please consider me as the answer to the question so I have a chance to win grower of the month contest 🙏 please and thank you 😊

My 2x2 is starting to crowd. This is driving the RH to over 70%. Should I defoliate to help with crowding and RH? Or should I just leave it alone? RH in lung room is 48% Exhaust fan, high or low with a dehumidifier, doesn't work. What should I do? Defoliate? Thanks! Check diary.

Defoliation can certainly help. Less leaves = less transpiration. Are you keeping your soil really wet? If so water less. Lowering the space temperature will slow down the transpiration rate and will decrease humidity. Not sure what you are using for extraction fan, but it might be wise to just run it constantly, or get a bigger fan that can move that humidity out quickly and keep it in check. Keeping the tent open will certainly lower the humidity, but you'll waste light and release all of the environment. So to recap, Defoliate 50% of your leaves, yes Lower environment temperature (decreases transpiration rate) Don't saturate your soil or leave any water laying around (a big full root zone needs saturation, but if your plants go 4 or more days without watering then reduce your water volume) Invest in a bigger extraction fan

I'm using the AC Infinity SELF-WATERING FABRIC POT BASE. I don't top feed, so does anyone know if I should let the reservoir dry out? Or, because it's a form of hydroponics, do I make sure to keep water in there all the times? Also, should I keep the nutrients constant? Thanks!

In a bottom-feed watering system like the AC Infinity SELF-WATERING FABRIC POT BASE, it's generally beneficial to maintain a consistent moisture level rather than letting the reservoir completely dry out. Here's why: Continuous Moisture: Plants often prefer consistent moisture, and allowing the reservoir to dry out completely may stress the plants. Consistent moisture ensures that plants have access to water and nutrients when needed. Hydroponic-Like System: While it's not a traditional hydroponic system, bottom-feed systems share some characteristics. Maintaining a consistent water level helps provide stability in nutrient availability to the plants. Preventing Stress: Allowing the reservoir to dry out completely can lead to stress for the plants. Inconsistent watering can result in fluctuations in nutrient availability, potentially impacting plant health and growth. Nutrient Consistency: Keeping nutrient levels relatively consistent is advisable. Fluctuations in nutrient concentration can lead to nutrient imbalances, affecting plant development. Regularly monitoring and adjusting nutrient levels based on plant growth stages is a good practice. While maintaining a consistent moisture level is generally beneficial, it's crucial not to overwater. Overwatering can lead to oxygen deprivation in the root zone, potentially causing root issues. Finding the right balance and adjusting based on the specific needs of your plants is key to a successful bottom-feed watering system. Regularly monitoring plant health, nutrient levels, and moisture content will guide your watering practices.

Why are they growing slowly? I have 6 plants total. 4 in this tent and 2 in another smaller tent. The ones in the smaller tent are in 1 gallon fabric containers and get the same bottom feed wick system as the 5 gallon ones in this tent. Why are the 1 gallon bigger? Thanks!

The feeding system your running is probably more efficient on the smaller containers. Add to it the roots have to push to find water then it would be easier in the smaller container. Thus meaning the smaller ones found water first and had a easier time. If I had to guess the bigger ones will catch up, and surpass the smaller ones. Although this is my assumption, I'm not accounting for the phenos. Every strain has multiple phenos. You may plant 10 seeds and have 10 different looking plants. Better breeders get this dialed in, and the phenos are less sporadic. 10 seeds might give you 2 or 3 phenos instead of 10.. Now. With this said I would guess it's the smaller containers allowed the plants to have a steady supply of nutes quicker, if it's not a odd pehno... if so the bigger potted ones should catch up and surpass the little ones. Goodluck. Please consider selecting me as the answer so I can be entered for a chance to win grower of the month contest I would really appreciate your support growmie 😃 🙏

How much if any foliage or stray branches should I remove from the bottom of this plant? She's super healthy so I don't think it will be an issue with stress, but I don't want any undue stress. Should I just leave it? I'd like to avoid popcorn buds all together.

Lower 3rd is a general rule of thumb. I find the best practise is to keep your plant profile low through trellis nets and scrogging them (Screen of Green). I don't understand why people waste time and energy growing a plant 4 feet tall just to have to butcher the lower 3rd to half of the plant. Why did you waste the time and nutrients is what i ask myself? Why not trellis your plant and fill the net 3/4 with tops, then flip to 12/12, and tuck the first week, then allow everything to stretch up, then defoliate and watch your yield be epic, with little plant wasted.

My largest plant just started to flower and is already 9" from the light which is at the top of the tent. It's a 240 watt light board from AC Infinity. I have it set to 60% power. Should I leave it there or should I dial it down? No signs of stress yet. Other plants are shorter.

Your describing a process known as Lolipopping. its good to do on lower bud sites that will not get the same exposure "light and air" as the top buds sites. I've done this on grows where I've used SCROG net and it worked out well. Good Luck!

Got bud rot. So I removed all of it. Should I harvest or wait a couple days to see what the plant does? It was a lot of bud rot. All of one side and most of the bottom of the canopy. Lost a few branches. Sideways pics? Again?

I am sorry my friend but this plant is infected from the inside. Smoking it will cause harm for your health. Better luck next time buddy!

What are the benefits and consequences of defoliating a week before harvest? Is it good or bad? I have tons of foliage up top and need it to go away. It's too late in flower, but a week before will open up the canopy to the lower bud sites. Any and all help is welcome. Thanks!

Haha, love the Cristmas vibe! No there is no need for an aditional defoliation. This will only cause stress and decrease yield! Enjoy your harvest next week buddy! 💚

In regards to a grow question about bottom feeding, I wanted to explain what I know and what I don't know about the bottom feed wicking system I have specifically with autoflowers. For starters the system works best when the 1 gallon reservoir needs to be refilled every couple of days or less. This is usually at the start of flowering when the roots have reached the bottom of the fabric container. No need to worry about the standing water. It'll be gone before anything has a chance to populate it. As for an autoflowers early life, I believe there is a difference here with photos and autos. Photos are generally in veg longer than autos, which means top feeding is a very short venture with autos. I have found that 14 to 20 days of top watering is sufficient. But not a full watering. Just enough to make sure the young plant gets what it needs. The final top watering before the bottom feed is about 1 gallon to 1.5 gallons. This is in both 3 and 5 gallon fabric containers with living soil and not coco. That could be different. It could also be a bit later or earlier based on what the plant wants. As for the bottom watering system, I prime the containers around week 3 by filling the reservoir with a half gallon of water and letting it soak into the soil. It takes about 20 minutes, but works well in the end. By doing this, the water from the bottom will meet up with the watering from the early top feed and by the time they connect the plant is ready for the wicking system. It's like prep work. As for what to expect during the grow, your roots will grow into the wicks. When this happens, I don't recommend lifting the plant from its base. This is where the fill up comes into play. I like to use a one gallon water jug to fill the reservoir. If I had a spout, I think it would be easier. Nothing pressured. Pour the water slowly to help with spillage. I also mix the nutrients right in the water jug. Makes it easier to fill up with an exact gallon. I haven't had much of an issue with salt build up, but I only use a 1/4 to a half dose. I wondered if I should let it dry out, but no. Instead, I use a lower dose of constant nutrients and keep the reservoir from drying out. Clean it every couple weeks and it should be good. A little trick I thought of in hindsight. Cut your wicks a little bit longer so you can make a loose knot to hold them in place. Make sure they are long enough to touch bottom. If I think of anything else I'll add it too. Any questions, please ask.

So this is what AC Infinity says about their Bottom Feed Wicking System. Please refill the basin whenever the water meter reads empty. It is recommended to clean and refill the basin every two weeks to prevent unwanted buildup and further protect against interlocking roots and wick lines. It's best to keep an eye on the meter for the low water reads.

@nonick123, I agree totally. The SCROG is just a backup. Training definitely helps with branch strength. But too heavy buds would be good too.
