How often should I be defoliating during flowering? I still have a lot of small low down branches and leaves to cut, I don't really want any popcorn buds.

hey monkey what may seem as a nothing leaf pluck to you is actually HST for the plant, but sort of clearing the undercarriage leads to fatter buds, the main idea is not to shock your plant too much after all the more light energy the leaves absorb the more energy the plant has to make flowers right? another more fool-proof way to get better results is to prune the flower nodes that you can tell will make popcorn buds just one or two levels on the biggest branches and it will help the plant buff up real nice. you dont want to pluck leaves that will turn into branches down the line ! good luck bro ! 🚀

Nice question munky! If you are going to defoliate during flower then I highly suggest doing it after the main stretching has completed and focus it on the lower growth that doesn't get much light exposure to maximize the energy your plant has to give your top buds that will actually produce. Other alternatives to defoliation can be utilizing LST to tuck larger leaves under the canopy allowing better light penetration to the new growth nodes. This method doesn't sacrifice the time that defoliation would take from your plant. Personally I would utilize both of these mothods and defoliate the bottom leaves and tuck the top for max yields. I hope this helps! 😎

Hi @Munky! I usually try to avoid any kind of pruning or defoliation after the 2nd week of flowering stage. Each time you remove a part of the plant, she drives its energy into recovering, whereas I want her to put everything into bud fattening & resin production. That being said, it's sometimes better to pluck a leaf if it's creating shades onto bud sites, so I'm always constraint to remove a few leaves in the last days. To summup, do it now and do it intelligently so you won't have to do it again later. Hope that makes sense, keep us up-to-date and happy growing 👊

Hello ! The flowering stage is not really the best time to defoliate and if you really wanna do it during that time prefer the 2 first week of stretch ; after the plant does not get any bigger. The same for the popcorn buds , remove them earlier and not after the end of the stretch to have a real benefit , as your plant will redirect the energy in the higher buds. I hope it will help you 😁✌️🏼
