As long as you give your plants a dark period and chop before lights come back on it's ok. The shock of an extended dark could induce a little extra frost, but the same results can be achieved via a monster crop too. The dark period doesn't help"use up nutrients", there is no light and photosynthesis isn't taking place. The dark period methodology is due to the vascular movement of fluids in your plants and light encourages your roots to feed, thus pulling nutes at root level throughout the plant.
