I think it would be better to try to keep the size around 2x3 to make sure you get enough light intensity to all the buds. The bud density will suffer if there isn't enough light. You would probably have to add a second light to supplement your 300 watt to get enough light to do a 2x4.

In a 2x4 space, you should pretty much be able to grow about as many colas as you like until you feel you are close to being out of space. 12 should not be a problem. The bigger trick will be to try and grow her wider to fill up more of the 4-foot length of the tent vs 2 feet of depth. I vote that you grow as many colas as you can for the biggest yield possible.
