I would not be removing any leaves, there is absolutely no need to and it is not a prerequisite for growing cannabis.
Your plant needs every healthy green leaf she has to make the energy she needs to grow her biggest and best flowers.
Less leaves = less energy = less growth.
It really is that simple and basic plant biology 101.
Removing perfectly healthy, green, energy producing leaves, then forcing your plant to grow new leaves, seems rather pointless to me and a massive waste of time and energy for the plant no doubt.
Besides, if your plant did not need those leaves, it would not have grown them in the first place!
For all these reasons, defoliating before flowering, is the absolute worst time to do so, if ever.
