Do not do it!!! Those beautiful big leaves are making nearly all of the energy she needs to grow. Just remember - Maximum amount of healthy green leaves = maximum amount of energy production = maximum growth. The leaves are the "solar panels" that drive your plants growth. Less solar panels, less growth. It is that basic. Those new shoots are relying on those fan leaves to make the energy that they need to grow. Try and only ever remove yellow leaves, for by the time they are yellow, they have done their job. Besides, if your plant would not need those leaves, it would not grow them in the first place! Those big leaves are about 80% of your plants canopy, removing them would cause an 80% reduction in energy production, reducing growth speed and overall plant potential enormously. Cannabis will grow its fastest and largest with as many leaves as possible left in place to do their job of making the energy for your plant to grow. Hope this helps, Organoman. (and a very, very anti defoliation grower!)

Certainly not with a plant that size don't even bother defoliating till flower.

Plant grow different sized leaves based on light exposure, contrary to my common sense at least, big leaves are grown in low light conditions, the plants photoreceptors detect low light and signal to the plant to grow big wide thick leaves to catch as much of photons as possible. As the plant starts to receive higher levels of light it signals to grow more smaller leaves. As the canopy of the tent rises these bigger lower leafs can still be of use but ultimately each and every part of the plant takes a little piece of the total energy available. The extent of that mass is decided by its root ball. It simply cannot grow past its maximum. Big fat wide leaves take alot of maintenence to keep alive and because they have such fat leaves that thickness is 90% water content. Eventually the plant will kill off 🍃 on its own as light levels continue decrease the further the canopy rises. It's hard to judge when is enough and when it's simply expediting the process. I'm still doing my own experiments with regard to this. I'd say my last grow I defoliated far too much and it diminished the yield in the end. But I certainly learned alot from the failure and in all things this is how we learn. Good luck brother.

I would not be doing any defoliation on that plant, tuck and bend the leaves out of the way if you worried but the plant needs to be bigger for it to really matter. I go by this rule when defoliating, If the leaves are blocking airflow or light to the bud sites and they can't be bent out of the way they can be stripped. Only larger fan leaves and only in flower or before flower. Its not normally need to defoliate in veg until later on a week or two before you witch to flower. Your plant is still small and can use them leaves to get bigger. Best Of Luck!

A plant that small I would not be plucking anything off. As Mr Roberts recommends if anything bend the plant over and maybe remove any small shoots but even then that plant is quite young to be doing anything but tie down.

Better yet lst it over and trim the few on upside so light gets to all of the insides good. Will increase yield a lot as well.

Strip off the big fan leaves if they are blocking new shoots, your plant will react well to this
