Opinions needed! I am having trouble determining when the trichomes are clear vs cloudy. Could someone take a look at the closeups of the buds and offer their opinion? Am I delusional thinking I will notice a difference between a harvest today vs 2-3 weeks from now?

This was a big struggle for me on my first harvest as I didn't want my GC to go Amber. But like the others said to really be able to tell you need a USB microscope or a jewlers loupe. The loupe in my opinion is definitely easier to use. Trust look through the loop and you will go oh wow. And 2-3 weeks can make all the difference. As they go full cloudy the buds will also go through the "swell" and your yield will definitely be higher and THC more potent. Clear/cloudy triches will get you high but your highest THC content is going to be full cloudy with some Amber tint. To much Amber will give you a more couch lock affect. I have a picture on my phone that has a really good example of each I'll try and post it. Just really hard to tell in that pic. Get you a loupe and take a pic through it. You'll get a much better idea of what your looking at. Go look at my Green Crack journal. It has some loupe pics of trichomes in it.

It's hard to say u need a 60x jewels loope. And if ur not familiar with trichomes u need to monitor for early flowering till late. So u know how they change and start clear. But guessing u still have a few weeks to go. Good luck 👍

If your going to grow weed buy a 40x led lighted jewelers loupe off amazon they work perfectly. You can also try looking in a coin shop they may have something similar. Don't wast your money on those little microscopes they're garbage. You can use your cell phone then blow the photo up but you won't get the true coloration of the trichomes. Take your buds with 5% to 30 % amber with mostly cloudy/milky trichomes. Hope this helps. 👍

It is really hard to tell as the photos aren't close enough to actually see if the heads are clear or cloudy. If you have a jewelers loupe or maybe a macro lens for your phone use that and retake the pics. If the trichs are indeed still clear then you deff have some time left and it will indeed make a big difference. It will affect yield and potency. The last few weeks the plant tends to bulk up a fair bit. Unfortunately what stick said about CBD being linked to amber trichs isn't really correct. Amber trichs are the thc degrading into CBN(makes you sleepy and not wanna move, also good for pain). You want to harvest when you have as few clear trichs as possible or when ambers start appearing faster than clears are becoming cloudy for the highest THC concentration. This is generally around the 10%-20% amber mark for most strains but can be less or more. Just based on how the buds themselves actually look, you probably have another week or 2 but 100% get some sort of magnification to be sure.

Hi @Sinktip! You should wait a little more, at least 5-7 days. Honestly no one can tell better than you (with the help of a magnifier/microscope)! Pistils can be a clue, if you noticed that new pistils have stopped appearing and old pistils have almost all turned red and curly, but the best way to ensure it's the right time is to look at the trichomes with a magnifier/microscope. Clear/Transparent/Skinny trichomes mean it's too soon, Milky/Cloudy/Fat trichomes mean the harvest window is open if you want to maximize THC, Amber trichomes mean the harvest window is ending for THC but CBD will reach its peak. Growing a CBD strain, you probably want to wait until amber trichomes appear. Whatever preference you have, you must buy a 2$ hand-held microscope to ensure your buds are fully ready. Hope this will help, let me know in the comments section if you need any further information, and happy growing! 👊

I think they still have some time to bulk up, you should give it another week or two before flushing, you are only 5 weeks into flower! 8 weeks is usually a minimum. I think they will still get bulkier.

No sorry it is impossible to tell with that kind of pictures. You need a magnifier with a 40x zoom to be able to see the trichomes colours so you have to but a magnifier or to harvest based on something else than trichomes ( not the best way ) like the age of the plant as the breeder must have tell how long the flowering will be ( and you can fairly add an extra week because they are all giving that value based on the"best environment available" which is not really easy to reach. Last method is the pistils method BUT that method is so shitty that I'm not really wanna talk about it ( Google it if you wanna loose time but know something new ). Now about the effect both THC and CBD have a maturation that is based on trichomes so if you let the trichomes beeing amber the effect will be different/deeper than with clear ones BUT I am not really a CBD smoker so I can't tell you if there is a huge difference between an amber and a clear trichomes
