April 11, 2023 Skywalker OG: Day 81 Wedding Glue: Day 74 This week we focus on Skywalker OG. She's heavy and her pistils are starting to turn a bit faster now. Trichomes are still mostly clear. No big deal. She still has about 4 or 5 days left to go. Skywalker OG is looking great! She is super top heavy and over night packed on a whole bunch more trichomes. Every bud is super frosty and will only get more so as the trichomes change to cloudy. She's not quite ready for her final watering, but should be ready tomorrow. I'll be running plain water top feed one gallon. Hopefully it will clear out some of the tiger bloom salts if there's any. She looks amazing. Nice powerful scent. Pungent and super gassy. Wedding Glue is also looking fantastic! Her tops are already super thick and dense. She has an extremely strong scent. Overwhelmingly strong. AWESOMESAUCE! She's still super dense and still needs a few leaves removed here and there. I'll be focusing on that with her this week. Her reservoir was bone dry this morning, so I filled her up with 1 gallon. One thing I'd like to point out is that she is a super long grow for a 63 to 70 day plant. Oh well. Looks like I don't need to worry about days in the grow anymore. However, I am focused on how many days of flower she has. That's the only thing helping me know when she will be ready. I say 3 weeks maybe 4. And with the size and shape of her buds, I can tell she will be a beast. Oh yah, she is STICKY to say the least. I can't even get in there to trim leaves without brushing a leaf filled with trichomes. Lol. It's a wonderful thing. As for coming up in the coming weeks, I won't be flushing until the last week of flower. Then I leave her be until harvest day. It's especially recommended by Fast Buds in their description. I also read it somewhere else. Wedding Glue: 1 gallon mix day 1. Grow System Environment: Temp: 73.1° RH: 50.3% VPD: 1.35 kPa April 12, 2023 Skywalker OG is just about there. She has about 50% orange pistils. Trichomes are a mix of cloudy and clear. About 50/50. Not seeing any amber yet. But she still has days to go. I also dumped a gallon plain water on her, pulled the wicking system and let the excess water drain out of the soil so all it has left is what's in the soil. Should be a few days to dry out then the 48 hour dark period and finally harvest. So a grand total of 5 more days I guess? Wedding Glue got crazy dense with bud. It feels like overnight her buds doubled is mass. Her branches have huge colas all over the place. 4 branches have 3 massive tops each. The top is getting pretty big as well. I'm feeling really good about this plant now. She seems to be enjoying her tiger bloom considering the size of these buds. Day 2 Wedding Glue reservoir. Just over 0.25 gallons. Grow System Environment: Temp: 73.5° RH: 53.7% VPD: 1.28 kPa April 13, 2023 Today I'm seeing a bit more orange pistils on Skywalker OG. I also found like 4 amber trichomes. She's definitely almost there. She is still emptying her soil moisture. I believe I am on point with 3 days left of water for her, now 2. I think she may have a day or 2 more of fattening those buds up. The pistils may be orange, but they're still sticking out. Just a few more days. Wedding Glue is looking amazing. She is super frosty and sticky. She smells wonderful. I'm still chipping away at her foliage. She's at day 21 in flower, so I'm going to slow down on defoliation and focus on just those leaves super impeding other growth. She's getting really fat buds as well. It's very exciting to watch. So far I've managed to keep the tops open to the light, but the lower branches are essentially overwhelmed by dense foliage. I'm carefully sifting the leaves to find the bud sites that can be opened up. Grow System Environment: Temp: 74.6° RH: 55.7% VPD: 1.27 kPa April 14, 2023 Wedding Glue got a refill today. A full gallon with a little under half going into the top soil and the rest in the reservoir. There's also been some major bud growth with her now. Super noticable from yesterday. Skywalker OG is still working on her final watering. She's taking a bit longer than I expected. I'd say another 2 or 3 days before she is dried out. She must have put some more weight on last night, because today she is starting to lean a bit. Looks like the bud weight is finally overwhelming her. The lesson learned here is top dress every few weeks. Anyway, she has a lot of cloudy trichomes now. Still very few amber trichomes. Super dense buds. No fade of the leaves though. Just the damaged ones from the calcium issue. I wonder why I never get a fade. Is it the living soil? Am I doing something wrong? I should look into this. If anyone is reading this, leave a comment with what you think. In other matters, the smell of these 2 ladies is overwhelming. Not in a bad way, but too much smell gets out of the tent when it's opened even for a minute. It's great, but I can't let it escape. Lol. So that's a great thing! Dankness. Grow System Environment: Temp: 76.3° RH: 55.5% VPD: 1.34 April 15, 2023 I ordered the flowering nutrients from Advanced Nutrients today. They will be here tomorrow. Nirvana Bud Candy Big Bud Overdrive Flawless Finish Wedding Glue will be getting those and I'm stopping the tiger bloom. So her next watering will start at the lowest dose of all the new nutrients needed for this week her flowering. Let's hope she doesn't get overdosed. She's in fox farm, so this should be perfect for her. She has even fatter buds. More and more trichomes. She also looks extremely happy and healthy. Not a single thing wrong with her. With these new nutrients, let's hope those buds get so big they take over the entire plant. Skywalker OG is getting pretty light. I think tomorrow, she will be dry enough to go in the dark tent. She isn't entirely done ripening those trichomes, but I am guessing that is what the dark period is for. Plus I'm giving her an extra day from before. Grow System Environment: Temp: 74.4° RH: 57.4% VPD: 1.21 kPa April 16, 2023 Wedding Glue looks absolutely amazing! Bud development is picking up. The nutrients I ordered yesterday will be here today and just in time. She just dried out her reservoir. She'll get a full reservoir refill. There are a few lower leaves that are just too low from the canopy and are potentially blocking air flow. Skywalker OG is taking a bit longer than I expected. She doesn't have amber trichomes yet. She is nearly dried out as well. She can go another day I think. Then 48 hours of dark. I hope I'm not too early with her final stage of growth. She is really starting to lean and pull at the roots more. She is definitely top heavy. Grow System Environment: Temp: 73.6° RH: 56.8% VPD: 1.19 kPa Update: I was looking through the trichomes on Skywalker OG. Almost all of them are cloudy. I also looked back over the past few weeks. There are trichomes that should be turning amber any day. So I put her in the dark tent for 48 hours. That should hopefully assist in trichome maturation. If I'm wrong, a 3rd day in the dark won't hurt. April 17, 2023 Quick update on Skywalker OG. She's in the dark until tomorrow night then the chop. She's fine and dandy in the tent. Humidity is a bit high in my opinion, but it's raining today. I put a dehumidifier in to combat the lower temp and high humidity. 66° and 54% humidity. Hopefully it drops down. Soil is nearly dried out. Very light, but can still feel moisture around the fabric. I believe this plant will be around 3 lbs? 4.2 ounces dried, trimmed and cured. That's my guess. The most amazing part of this is the size of the plant with the container. It's nearly 4 feet tall. The tent is 4 feet tall. Hahahaha! There will be more room when she gets the chop. Wedding Glue is looking and smelling fantastic! Buds are getting fatter and she doesn't seem to be upset with the new nutrients. She's also much happier with being lower to the ground with a wider light spread. I turned the light up to 70% and have it at 26" from the canopy. I'd like it a bit higher, but I don't want to increase the heat too much in there. I may do that though and increase the light to 80%. Grow System Environment: Temp: 74.9° RH: 53.4% VPD: 1.35 kPa Quick Update: I decided to lift the plants in the grow tent 2 inches and raised the grow light to 27" above canopy and 90% intensity. DLI is between 38 and 45.

Best to get a light meter. Photone or tentbuddy. Not sure what works on what phone but look into a meter for sure . Tentbuddy gives u outlines for veg and flower along with a VPD Calculator. It's hard to just say "lift it 24in above" the light meter will get u in the best range.

Why is my Wedding Glue Auto so short? She's healthy as can be. The issue here is that she is in day 30 with zero signs of upward growth and only 5.5" tall. Can I fix this somehow? Huge leaves though. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Look at the diary to see.

She is growing slowly.. But, I can see she's only around pushing up her 5 or so set of nodes. She will get bigger. She's just slow going atm.. had the same thing with my lemon pie and took her ages to flip. She'll put on most of her height during pre flower. Idk her traits but she looks mainly indica with her big fat leafs. Indicas grow much lower and have more girt. Sativas grow higher that have less girt. But, sometimes plants especially autos are unpredictable. Wouldnt worry about it to much. Good growing

After much research, I couldn't find anything on how to properly handle a really short plant. Does anyone have a thought about this? Or how to induce extra stretch? This is for documentation and research for this particular grow situation. Please see week 5 entries. Thanks all!

No need for defol right now. You’re at a critical point you don’t want to hinder anything. You have a great even canopy. Let her be.

I'd say leave her be my guy. You need those leaves for photosynthesis. To make those nice beautiful flowers! Besides she doesn't really have an abundance of leaves from what I can see. I hope this helps.

I've always wondered this and never asked. Should all cannabis plants go through senescence? I only ask because I've only ever had 1 plant that went through it. Am I harvesting too early? Or does it even matter? These are autoflower grows.

If you're nailing the nutrition, don't do a pre-harvest flush, and the genetics don't support it, then there's a good chance you won't see senescence and there's nothing wrong with that. As long as you're happy with the trichomes on your grow, then no one can you tell it's the wrong time to harvest. There's a lot of debate about "flushing" and what it can or can't do for your plant (including a lot of recent research on this). Many top professional farms don't flush at all and as a result they see little to no senescence in their crop. That said, I always flush - probably due to habit and/or bro-science - and I do always see a "fade" as a result. I've no way or telling you if this actually improved the smoke or quality though. Latest research suggests that it doesn't really help, but that probably won't stop me doing it every harvest! 😂

I normally don't ask more than one question a week, but I believe I'm at a critical point with my wedding glue. She hasn't grown at all in the last 2 days at 14.5". I haven't defoliated yet because of stretch, but I think she's done. Should I defoliate or wait a few more days?

That is helpful @Prilyfe13. I think we can definitely narrow it down to two things - a lack of Calcium (which matches your description of brown dots progressively getting worse and becoming more blocky), and possible light burn. If the issue is only affecting the very top of the plant nearest the light, then I believe you may have hit the nail on the head with light burn. Looking at your photo dated 19th March, the issue wasn't present in it's current form then, but I can see the sides of the leaves starting to curl up. This is THE classic light burn symptom. It begins on the sides of the leaves (rather than the tips, like nutrient burn) and then progresses inwards. But, you've obviously described a classic calcium deficiency as well, as I said... so perhaps it's six of one and half-dozen of the other! When it comes to living soil, I am certainly no expert, but my understanding is that you don't generally need to add too much in the way of nutrients as this is mostly in the soil already. Hopefully someone with more experience than me in this field will be able to help you... That said, if you don't get any more expert advice, I would probably err on the side of caution and raise/dim the lights (as you have done) and then maybe incorporate some Cal-Mag into the next few feeds, just to be sure it's getting enough. I don't think I've ever seen calcium or magnesium toxicity myself, so if you're using the small recommended doses, I can't see that it would cause any harm even if it doesn't need it. RE: Fish shit - I don't think this is the cause. So long as you're only using the recommended dosages, it should be fine. RE: an equipment list - don't even get us started or it will never end lol. All you technically need is air, water, soil and the sun... that doesn't explain why my spare room looks like the inside of Area 51's weapons testing facility. 😂 PH and TDS/EC meters are great, but I managed to grow successfully for years without them - particularly growing in soil which is much more forgiving. Its the same with basically every growing accessory I own. The main thing, to me, is managing the growing environment: keeping humidity high in veg and low in flower, keeping temps in the ideal range in the day and at night, etc. Those are the hardest things to do as you might be fighting against building itself, weather and geography etc, which are not battles that can be easily won. In future, if you want to keep your plants smaller and spread out the canopy more to avoid light burn and increase the PPFD or what would otherwise be lower branches, I would recommend that you start practicing LST or SCROG'ing, but that's more a technique than an accessory - other than the plant ties you'll need to make LST'ing easy. 😁 Good luck!

Hi, I follow @LegacyMarketFarm here and on you tube. He indicated there should be final defoliation 3rd week after flowers start. This forces energy to all remaining bud sites. I did this with my plants to keep down any mold issues since I couldn't control humidity. .I will say, however, there are many different thoughts on the 3rd defoliation. Happy growing and have fun 👍

If this was my grow, I would be watering from the top since she's not taking it up from the wicking and is drying out.... the last thing you want is for your entire plant to turn crispy. Water until there's some runoff and then wait to see if the runoff is soaked back up into the pot - if it is, give more water until it stops soaking it back up and then throw away the excess... Good luck!

What do I do with this overly leafy plant? I'm pretty sure the foliage caused very airy buds and tops. What should I do here? Major defoliation before 48 hours of dark? Leave it, cut the branches off when harvested and run a dry trim or with this should I run wet trim? Thanks!

This plant is looking beautiful! I would not recommend to defoliate this late in the growing phase. Just make sure that there will be enough moving air around this plant to prevent fungals. The only advice that I can give to you for this plant is to cut down the nutrients a bit. You are giving too much. 75% from what you are giving now is more then enough till harvest.
