Every healthy green leaf you remove will reduce your plants capacity to produce energy, slowing growth and with potentially smaller growth too, especially with autos and their limited time in the vegetative growth phase. The "potential bud sites" are relying on those leaves to produce the energy they need to grow. Energy can not be "channelled" anywhere; all energy is used throughout the entire plant equally. Removing the leaf you indicated would reduce your plants overall energy production by 10-15%, slowing growth and triggering your plant to grow a new leaf, so that energy production is restored. Removing a healthy green leaf to stimulate your plant to grow a new healthy green leaf is counter productive. Your plant will grow its fastest and largest with all leaves left alone and try to only removed leaves if they go yellow. Light we humans can not see will penetrate upper leaves to strike lower leaves and stimulate photosynthesis, therefore making energy for growth. The small leaves associated with new growth can in no way produce as much energy as even just one big healthy fan leaf. Cannabis has not evolved to grow her biggest and best flowers by getting rid of healthy green leaves for no reason or benefit. Remember - Maximum amount of healthy green leaves = maximum energy production = maximum growth. This is basic plant biology 101. Hope this helps,......... Organoman.

I was really hoping for both sides of the argument and I got it. I do see the merit in both options and in a photo there would be no question, pluck it. But in autos, every second is precious. Anything that slows growth inevitably reduces quality or yield due to the fixed timeline. The rate of growth of those lower stems is so fast that I decided not to pluck it and give the branches a couple days to try and peek over that leaf. I am fully aware of the hair splitting here, but hey it's fun. I am leaving the leaf. Thanks everyone who commented.

Yes, I definitely would, you can see its heavily indica, what distance you running the lights? It might be worth raising them to induce more stretch?
