Light Scedule to 24/0

Hydronautstarted grow question 3 years ago
I just installed a new light and now have a nice even 1000 PPFD across canopy. If I go to a 24/0 light schedule will she be ok? I started at 18/6 originally.

1000PPFD on 24/0 = DLI of 86.40 - its overkill https://www.waveformlighting.com/horticulture/daily-light-integral-dli-calculator Once you hit a DLI of over 30 or 40 you need to supplement with co2 or the plants may burn and won't get use of the added energy. I'd keep it aorund 18 and see how they are doing with that. 18/6 1000PPFD = DLI of 64.80 still quite high but give it a shot, just keep an eye on it, do not leave it unattended. Also a 24/0 light schedule is not good for the plants, they need rest and downtime. maybe if you lowered the lights dimmer to 10% that could work a bit better if your really set on 24/0 The plants only have full strength sunlight for a small period in the day. and its DLI is slowly increasing till it hits that mark then slowly decreases. Good Luck!

Answering cuz I love your username. My growspace is affectionately named the Scroggernaut, cuz either youre scrogging or your not. I assume you are in veg or are growing autos with that light cycle? Ya, you'll be fine switching the light cycle around, no harm done. You do want to make sure that your lights are not too close, and not too intense, as the plants can react negatively to a large dose of UV after having only a little. You may want to gradually increase the light intensity, so as to not burn the tops. Keep fit and have fun - BudXs

I would not go beyond 20/4. Plants will be healthier if they can rest, and run a cycle. Plus running nonstop is really hard on equipment. The gain to me is insignificant beyond 20/4. Happy growing 🌱
