Lumatek Zeus 600w Pro 2.9, distance to canopy?

I'm wondering if anyone here has a experience with Lumatek Zeus Pro 2.9, I bought it in December and just finished the first round, it worked great but I'm still wondering about the hight above the plants, is it necessary to keep a certain close distance?

Google "killer grow light migro" and at the end of the video, you can get a trusted PAR map of your light (what m0use above was talking about above). If you hang it at 16" (I'm looking at the last pic on your week 2 grow, it looks like it's around 16" above canopy) at 100%, you get aboute ~950umo/s in the middle and area. At 50%, you are going to be hitting them with ~475 umol/s. That might be a little high for my personal liking at this age, especially at 20h/day, but your plants look great. Check into DLI too if you haven't. Anyway I would keep the light as close as possible since that's how the light is designed to be (16" - 20", so you don't need to adjust it every single day) and just adjust the dimmer throughout the grow. It'll help with the power bill. Good luck 😎👍

To clarify. 2.9umol/J is how efficient it is at turning the hydro going into the light "600w" into photons or light beams coming out of the light. The PPFD is the measurement of how dense/bright said photons are coming out of the light. Its spectrum is the amount of each photon wavelength there is in it. This is also known as its temperature of light when averaged out . Sometimes it also include ultraviolet and Infrared. Humans suck a detecting lights colour/brightness with our eyes. Not all 600W LED's produce the same output in terms of efficiency or spectrum. The manufacture gives you multiple PPFD maps based on hang heights, this is the same thing a lux meter can do but PPFD is way more accurate. Look in your manual and reference the maps or use the links below and reference them. Save the PDF to your device. Seedlings, vegging, transiting and flowering plants all require different light, it follows a trend of low to high in terms of intensities. Some lights can be dimmed at 50% and hung at 10" or put on full 100% power and hung at 20" and be just as efficient/useful. This is a very generalized example and may not transition into practical use. If you need any other help use your DM's your inbox is the little green arrow in the bottom right corner. Good Luck!

The only way your are going to truly tell if your lights are close enough is to buy a lux meter, i just got mine from amazon for £20, everyone opinion wont matter when you see the numbers for yourself Happy growing, good luck

It's a light meant for close up grows m0use that's why lights like half the price with the same strength, them you have to be careful. You have a few there. It's built for close up grows and takes light stress as much as it can out of the pic. It has a decent and more than enough PPF 1770 and a high 2.9 umol. Allowing you to get closer and still get a high as a harvest if not higher than a higher PPF and a light with lower umol. If you look at similar 600 watt lights you can't get that close cause the PFF but this is still high enough but not extreme, no other light has perfect PFF and such a high umol 2.9 crazy. Great buy you got a germ on your hands.

That's a serious light you got their, congrats. Hanging distance is determined by how strong the light is. and when they get really strong it's also determined by how much co2 is in the air. Dimmers also help defuse the intensity. So in short it 100% matter how close it is. a difference of 10" can mean a PPFD of 900 vs 400 on some lights and that's a lot of energy. The manufacture has a grow light calculator that tells you what to do for the size of your tent. https://lumatek-lighting.com/lumatek-led-grow-light-calculator/ Also if you look on its product page it give a link to its spec sheet, download in PDF https://lumatek-lighting.com/zeus-600w-pro-29/ It will show you its PPFD map. its impressive. I would suggest reading up on what PPFD is and watching some educational videos to get the most use out of your light. There are a few good people on youtube who break it down very well. One of them even has their own brand of LED's www.youtube.com/watch = he is king www.youtube.com/c/MIGROLIGHT = love his lab like tests and results. Best Of Luck!

2.9 you can judge more or less even with other makes of that strength. It's a brand that gives real and is made for close environment grows. It's built for that very purpose. Here you can find possible more info then the place you bought it from. They use specs from actually growers https://www.led-grower.eu/lumatek-zeus-600w-pro-2-9--mol-j/ That light would be great I'd say 30cm if you don't want plants to stretch but this light why it costs so much is the high light it outs out and very mim damage to plants like light burn and so on. So close news I wouldnt worry about but I wouldn't m9ve it more than 30-40 cm from canopy and you don't really need to worry about it. Hope this helps. The manual makes sense lol.
