What’s goin on everybody? I hope everyone is fantastic! We are here with another update as we put another week behind us-
First up on the roster, the cosmic apprentice and anvil that I had drying is now mostly jarred up as I count down the remaining time I have in trim mail… I see the light at the end of the tunnel! The cosmic apprentice is insanely sticky and SUPER pungent, when it was still on the plant sometimes I would get little hints of banana as I was in the tent giving the girls a little love and nutrition. And on the flip side, the anvil- an interesting smell that I can’t seem to describe as of yet- I can’t quite put my finger on it… it’s not that conventional cannabis smell (at least that I’m familiar with) buuuut it is up to its eyelids with that bag appeal- straight purple buds! Not purple ish, I mean PURPLE… with insane amounts of orange hairs- I can’t wait to give both of them a try, the cosmic apprentice is all trimmed and jarred, the anvil I’m just finishing up trimming but of course I started with all the fat buds so now I’m down to all the smaller airier buds that to tell you the truth I’m not entirely sure it is worth my time trimming, but alas! I will persevere! Trimming can be a drag but man you have to step back and realize how lucky we are to be able to complain about trimming the amounts of cannabis we do… beats buying sixty dollar eights any day of the week!
Anyway I digress… moving on!
So! Where the cosmic apprentice and anvil were, I now have one frosted melon wreck and one wautomint- I had put the scrog net in and together, they fill the entire 3x3 space. It stinks, I could definitely train the wautomint and make it bigger if it weren’t for my tower fan taking up a fair amount of space but I don’t want to find out the hard way what happens when I take my air circulation (for the canopy at least) out of the equation… prob not worth the space gained- everything is going well in there, I see I’m running into a deficiency of sorts that I have encountered the past couple runs- this means I’m going to have to put on my imaginary detective hat and try to get to the bottom of this- in the past, I have pulled a plant or two (okay okay it was two maybe three) just a bit early due to this so I am going to have to figure it out- when I try to think what would be causing the issue, there are two theories that I have come up with.
1. I am being lazy and when they are in the bigger containers, I am not watering to the point to where there is enough run off that maybe I am locking myself out due to the build up of salts in the coco?
-or-
2. I am fertigating with the same general nutrients not switching anything up to make sure it’s getting the right nutrition it needs later on in its life cycle- I figure jacks 321 probably came with the “bloom” and “finish” for a reason- so I will try and be better about these two things- I was in denial but I have to be honest with what I am doing and seeing to really hone my skills and dial in my grow.
As for the under stairs closet, everything seems to be doing pretty well but quite cramped- I am impatiently waiting for the day that I can take down the frosted melon wreck so everyone can get just a little breathing room. With the wauto mint, I’m glad that I have them trained in a few different ways- it’ll allow me to really check em out, compare, and see what’s most effective (at least for me in my conditions in the two spaces) annnnd last but not least- the headliner! The rock candy cake!
So we entered new and exciting territory with the rock candy cake- now we are training! I usually top around the fourth node but this time decided to fim the plant- for the very first time! It seems to be doing really well and I wonder if this is less stressful than topping? Idk but I DO know it didn’t seem to slow down too much growth wise- the fans are getting pretty big and it’s funny (a little, it’s also driving me slightly nuts) the part I fimmed is growing in reminding me of cabbage or something- if my OCD has a say, I will probably go right back to topping but I’m not hating on fimming at all- I was pleasantly surprised that it barely slowed down. Other than the fimming, I have also done a bit of LST I’m just trying to start teasing it out while the stems are still pretty thin- I recently ran into hollow stems for the first time and now I’m timid so I want to start while she’s young. Eventually she will take up the whole 3x3- honestly, recently I’ve been finding that have been wishing that I had a 4x4 or a 5x5- at first a 3x3 was fine for a few autos but I feel like I could have filled out my whole tent with the frosted melon wreck and that’s an auto… soo….. finally being in control of veg time it stinks to be limited by my spaces.. however don’t get me wrong I am just thinking out loud and still feel EXTREMELY lucky to live in a time that this is even an option as well as to have a wife who is cool enough to let me do something like this! I am extremely fortunate!💚🤙
Lastly I wanted to address what I was hinting last post- I had an idea that I was very excited about but believe it or not- after acquisition of all the necessary materials, I actually caught wind of something even more exciting (at least for me) so I will have to put this mystery project on temporary hold. I WILL however spill the beans…
So what is this you ask? A competition of sorts? A head to head if you will? No way! We are all friends here this is some thing even better, it’s a trifecta of awesome! I have just this week acquired three different varieties of runtz/ runtz crosses and will be growing them in a side by side not to compete, but to check out, observe, appreciate the differences and appreciate the harvest at the end! When we pull the trigger on this future run, it will consist of runtz from Barney’s farm, forbidden runtz from fast buds and macaruntz from gas reaper! Needless to say I am very excited for what the future holds, not only for that upcoming run- but for even more excellent and very exciting news to come!
Well that’s about it for now, I hope everyone is doing well and everyone’s gardens are busting at the seams with the good stuff 💚🤙 see ya next time!
