Hey everybody! Welcome back to our pure breeding- “rock candy cake” grow! It is week 12 and without further adieu let’s get into it!
Now as you know we are currently in the midst of trying to get that canopy to extend to the very edges of that scrog net on all four sides- currently we are getting close with even a few branches extending over on a couple of the sides, but we still have a ways to go all the way to the left…
Due to the fact that we already have a few branches extending over the edge, I will have to do my best to continue to weave and tie, but in more creative ways so that I can keep those branches that will outgrow the net from starting to grow upwards until I flip to flower. I’m not too worried I have a lot of fun training and what I admittedly run into is more of a matter of not being able to spend to proper time in there for such maintenance but truth be told- for me, that’s one of my favorite parts of growing… working with and manipulating plants in a way that will change look, size and yield. I’ve gotten to learn new techniques and have more to try! I think it’s an active and exciting time to see how the plants respond, bounce back, and flourish after implementing those techniques. It’s not just sitting there in autopilot mode, you’re getting in there and changing things in a way that will hopefully benefit both you and the plant as far as growth and yield
One thing that has happened twice now that I thought was somewhat interesting and certainly less than ideal, the temps got up to 87 during the day and by the time i got home, the rock candy cake looked less than please to see me…there are a number of ways to deal with this- I think I am going to take some baby steps and try a couple things that may indeed end up being debatably pointless, but here is where I’m coming from on that, I COULD remove the ballasts from inside the tent and that would certainly drop the temp- however, it is just the beginning of winter and I am sure that I will end up needing the extra heat being generated. So I decided to treat it with a patch just a quick fix- I opened the windows of the room and the door to the tent to get some cooler air in there and I placed a fan above the lights and have an identical one on standby ready to go. I usually have a fan or two above the lights but honestly it just slipped my mind- I got caught up in the move.
It seems to be doing well now and we will find out tomorrow if I will need the other fan up there. It seems to get hot mid day so we’ll see what happens around that time. Other than that, all has been pretty standard we are just playing the waiting game stretching out that canopy. Next I will give it a bit of a defol so I can open things up and see what’s goin on in there, increase airflow, expose bud sites etc so I will have that to look forward to this week and as for what else? Well we will just have to wait and see!
Growmies, it has once again been an absolute pleasure! Thank you so much for stopping by! I hope you all have a great week and are able to enjoy all the fruits of your labor. May your gardens be booming and your harvests be bountiful and we will se you next time! Growers love everyone! 💚🤙🌱
