Grow Goals Week 2 of Flower ‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾ 🌦️ VPD of 1.2-1.5 kPa for Early Flower 🌙 Diurnal Temp Difference of 10°F / 5°C 🔆 Maximum Light Infiltration 🔆 Maintain DLI at 40 for Early Flower 🚜 Microbes & Mycorrhizae 🚜 Even Defoliation Across Plants 🔎 Pest Inspection 🔎 Nutrient Deficiency Inspection 🔎 Plant Happiness Inspection 🔎 Note Growth Response _____________________________________          🚜  On The Road    ‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾ My long time friend is taking care of the plants for me while I travel. I mixed 27 Gal / 102 L of nutrient solution ahead of time. In the past, I have witnessed that a pre-mixed solutions’ pH tends to creep up, but I am trying to increase the pH a bit to around 6.4.   Big thanks to my long-time growmie for this week’s pics.   Also, big thanks to the hater who tried their very best to ruin my day with toxic comments. I will always choose to keep things on the positive. Eyes to the skies. Keep on growing.         🚜  LST Work Needed    ‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾ Once back, the first thing on my list is to level out the canopy using my LST. The plants have stretched quite a bit.       🌦️  VPD Needs Adjusting    ‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾ I forgot to adjust my Lung Room temp and RH% before leaving on a trip. Next week I will be modifying the environment to achieve my VPD goal of 1.2-1.5 kPa for early flower         🔆  No Far-Red (IR) Light During Early Flower    ‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾ I have covered up the Far-Red (IR) diodes on my lights with electrical tape. They will stay covered until mid flower to minimize the stretching that early flower brings. The ratio of Red photons to Far-Red light is what activates the plant’s shade avoidance system (stem elongation). Check out Week 8 for details on why I do this.         🔎  Pest Inspection    ‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾ I am enjoying being pest free since closing the lung room door. I will continue to use yellow sticky traps to monitor for any infestation.       🔎  Nutrient Deficiency Inspection    ‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾ #2 is becoming happy once again.      🔎  Plant Happiness Inspection    ‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾ No reports of plant unhappiness     ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________      Fabric pots to prevent root binding.   I am taking the Syn-ganics approach. Using soil with microbes + mycorrhizae added to the nutes. Mycorrhizae will be phased out during flowering as the high phosphorus environment halts fungal germination (Teaming with Fungi: The Organic Grower's Guide to Mycorrhizae by Jeff Lowenfels)   Enzymatic (Sensizym) will assist in breaking down dead root material in the soil. Any brand enzymatic that can break down cellulose will do just fine.   Agsil16H Potassium Silicate is pre-mixed at 148g per 1 gallon of water. Silica will aid plant strength/structure and also make the plants taste terrible to pests. As a side note, plants with too much nitrogen input taste sweet and delicious to pests!   Bacillus Thuringiensis subspecies Israelensis (Bti) (aka Mosquito Dunks) solution is added to the nutes to kill any larvae based pests such as gnats. Mixing Mosquito Bits into the soil is also a great idea.   Seaweed Bottled Mix Ingredients (NOT an endorsement. I purchased this with my own money) ‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾ - Ecklonia Maxima Kelp - Fish Hydrolysate - Blackstrap Molasses - Humic Acid / Fulvic Acid - Select Amino Acids (L-Alanine, L-Arginine, L-Aspartic, L-Cystine, L-Glutamic Acid, L-Glycine,   L-Histidine, L-Isoleucine, L-Leucine, L-Lysine, L-Methionine, L-Phenylalanine, L-Proline,   L-Threonine, L-Serine, L-Tryptophan, L-Tyrosine, L-Valine) - Calcium Phosphate - Arcanite - Sugars - Yucca Extract - Tryptic Soy Agar - Plant Hormones, Plant Growth Stimulators and Vitamins (Auxins, Cytokinins, Gibberellins,   Abscisic Acid (ABA), Adenine, Indole Acetic Acid (IAA), Adenosine, Zeatin, A (Carotene),   B1, B12, C, D, E, K, Biotin, Niacin, Choline, Pantothene, Folic Acid, Folinic Acid) ________________________________________________________________________________    I Build My Own Custom Grow LEDs https://growdiaries.com/diaries/165481-grow-journal-by-negotiatedbubble   Custom Built Modified Grow Tent Frame https://growdiaries.com/diaries/165474-grow-journal-by-negotiatedbubble   Custom Built Watering Table https://growdiaries.com/diaries/165482-grow-journal-by-negotiatedbubble   VPD Chart and Calculator spreadsheet https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Dta8AptwIIgo728nAu4l9acrWYWPdrljjV4uzXwGJ0Q/edit?usp=sharing   My Custom Nutrient Spreadsheet https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1grolLVrJLQVSdK7sdnR7dS86axWIzDgW1iWWZIFHhiA/edit?usp=sharing

Thanks Cyrus. Thanks Resinus. This is probably my 9th of 10th harvest, experience-wise. With so much BroScience™️ still floating around, I always like to question why when I do something in my grow space. I spent about 4 month straight listening to grow podcasts while doing food deliveries and also research a lot in my spare time. I have hammered out a rough process for myself and figured time to post what I have so far. Teaming with Microbes is a great fucking book. Bruce Bugbee is THE authority on how photons/wavelength/etc interact with Cannabis.

Hey mate, loving the detail in text. I enjoy reading as I find it more informative than photos. The photos for me are the result or the metric or measure, the text is the subject at hand. :) I also like your invention with your own made kit, something I find inspiring. Can you tell us a little about your past growing experience?

@Ezzjaybruh, It's wonderful to hear you inspired to write more... I share your frustrations mentioned and will not elaborate for obvious reasons.

@UnorthadoxDude, after reading this.. makes me want to add more to my diaries than I have been lately. I just have got a bad taste in my mouth with this site of late, for many reasons I won’t go into here.. but I don’t realize ppl might be looking at my diaries for specifics to learn..

I was searching other people's public google drives files for VPD charts. I found a copy of the pulse grow VPD chart that someone apparently converted to a Google Sheets Spreadsheet. Very nice. Thanks for that @gottagrowsometime. I trashed most of my grow equipment before moving to California and am reinventing my environmental control due to the change in local climate.

wow, this an artist's diary. at first I kinda went this path but now I'm so lazy and mostly update the pics and give the viewers an overview of the week... this is much better, thank you and keep it that way! btw, nice girls... they look lovely and I would not worry about any deficiency at this stage, most of the pics I have seen seems to be senescense related. However, the space looks crowdy, you got to watch out for mold and air circulation very closely, but the new dehumidifier will help I guess. I would recommend less plants and mainlines... they get very big and horizontal spread also thriving on the stress! good luck from Brazil! =)

@NegotiatedBubble, thanks for the tip. I have started adding silicate this grow and had no issue with mold or mildew I would say, with the addOn of an AC during 35+ days of flowering. Got myself a 240W Quantum Bar now and this next grow I hope to get some much more potent buds with my new AC during flowering... Hope your new setup fixes any issues. You deserve it, very well orgnized fellow. Congrats! Tchau, do Brazil!

@amazongrow, I live next to a cold water bay and see 68°F / 20°C with 60-70% RB days, and then 50°F / 10°C with 80-90% RH at nights. Typical A/C's are not very good at humidity control when it comes to indoor growing. This applies to drying room conditions as well. In that case, I need very cold + 60% RH, but the A/C running that much will dry the air out about 4 days into my drying session. Previously, I ran small humidifiers in my drying room after that 4 day mark. I will be tweaking this for my new climate. I reduced the LGR Dehu to 40% and managed to get the tent down to 55%. I also defoliated much of the plant to insure against mildew issues. I am going to overlay some cheap vinyl flooring on top of the existing wood floors. This should cut down the amount outside humidity entering the room. If you are not supplementing with Silica, then start now. Silica prevents a lot of mildew diseases such as Botrytis.

@NegotiatedBubble, you have a lung room? a room for air conditiong RH and stuff before sending to the tent? that should be awesome! what are your conditions on the outside world? As I grow in the Amazon, the humidity here is almost 95% outside most of the year (lots of rivers, trees, rain, etc).. once I thought about getting a lung room, but still I had to deal with the temperatures (28C almost all year around).... this time around I have used an AC from day 35+ of flower and the results were just fucking amazing! Having said that, fighting climate is a bitch and its fucking hard! =/ But as you are all organized, I believe its a battle you will win! Congrats, bro!

Loving the info, veritable bank of knowledge you are Negotiated bubble. Making your own LeDs , now that's interesting! Right up my alley. Not now though, my ass is broke from previous ideas :)
NegotiatedBubble
NegotiatedBubblecommented2 years ago
@Ultraviolet, a lot of these new "Amazon" lights still do not have the Samsung LM301H diodes. The newer "LM301H EVO" diodes are not for beginners due to missing red spectrum (have to supplement red diodes separately). I only expect to see EVO in commercial setups. All the more reason to build my own!

Looks like congratulations are in order bro! 👏 Awesome work and the buds look rock solid! 👏 Thank you for all the harvesting tips as well, I'll definitely try out the PAM spray, I was using rubbing alcohol... Good points as well on the wet trimming 🙏 I'll be using what I learned from you on my 2 current grows. Best of luck on the drying and curing my friend! 👈

@MedicineMaker, thanks! I learned a ton this time around and was glad to share it. I ran across the below harvesting book and was able to check out the digital version though my local library. The book has a lot of useless "filler", but still a great read toward the end.     Marijuana Harvest: How to Maximize Quality and Yield in Your Cannabis Garden, by Ed Rosenthal, David Downs
