This is a good thing.
Okay. So let me give you quick 101 as to this is a good thing.
Roots need to breath
Need to see intake of water
How your outside conditions show your top soil to, indications your plant is more thirsty and needs more water.
Till the top and if its dry deep down. And you find it still moist. You are just dealing with high temps drying out your sub. As roots are below surface level. Itll do no good but harm to cover it with anything. As it'll lower the intake of 02/co2 to your roots. As your top soil dries o2 is drawn down into your sub allowing your roots to breath. Win, win, win
No need run adjust. If you want. You can add clay pebbles on your pot. Will stop any unwanted bugs laying eggs as they'll have no soil to do it on.
But this is a process. Again, just till top lightly. Or push your finger in and in its damp you just have evaporation from hot weather. Again, this helps draw in stuff for your roots to breath. You should never have a fully wet top. As it'll smoother your roots.
