December 20, 2023 Day 106 Strawberry Gorilla: Day 5 Drying Gorilla Cookies: This is the last week of nutrients. Next week will start the flush cycle for 2 weeks I think. There's a whole lot of nutrients in the soil. She's getting more orange pistils now. About 50% I'd say. Her buds, although foxtailed, are pretty dense. It should be fine from now on with the light distance in the Main Tent. Trichomes are still nearly all clear. I'll start flushing when she has 50% cloudy. She got a reservoir refill today. And a very slight top feed. Just under a liter or so. Grow System Environment: Temp: 72.8Β° RH: 46.4% VPD: 1.44 kPa December 21, 2023 Strawberry Gorilla: Day 6 Drying I checked the branches today. Definitely another 5 days left. Happiness permeates my bones. This will be some really nice smoke. Gorilla Cookies: She's looking pretty good. Still has all those foxtails, but dense and her aroma is wonderful. No water needed today, but she will continue to get nutrients for the next week. Then I'll start flushing her. Other than that, nothing else to report today. Grow System Environment: Temp: 72.6Β° RH: 45.6% VPD: 1.45 kPa December 22, 2023 Strawberry Gorilla: Day 7 Drying I checked the branches today and they are getting close to done. 2 of them snapped with ease, but the rest are still kinda bendy. Another couple of days I think. Gorilla Cookies: Not much going on today. She got a reservoir top off today and that's all. No leaves to remove, no rotations be needed. Although, I may try to rotate her 90Β° tomorrow. We shall see. Anyway, the buds are bulking up now and starting to put some serious weight on. I don't think it will be nearly as much as the other 2 Gorilla Cookies in the Main Tent, but still a decent harvest from a foxtailed plant. Grow System Environment: Temp: 72.7Β° RH: 45.6Β° VPD: 1.45 kPa December 23, 2023 Strawberry Gorilla: Day 8 Drying Gorilla Cookies: This lady is doing quite well. She isn't doing much in the sense of bulking up that I can tell, but I can feel the buds getting hard and more dense. Maybe she is bulking and I just can't tell. It could be possible. The tops are all foxtailed so I don't have much of a gauge for density. I checked her trichomes today. Nothing to write home about though, so I don't have pics posted yet. I'll start trichome pics and a video next week. Grow System Environment: Temp: 72.5Β° RH: 43.3% VPD: 1.50 kPa December 24, 2023 Strawberry Gorilla: Complete Trimmed and jarred at 66 grams. Gorilla Cookies: She looks like the rest of this week is all she needs before the flush period. Not much going on today. Just trimming Strawberry Gorilla. She doesn't need any water or anything. I don't know if I've mentioned, but she smells really sweet and gassy. Different from Strawberry Gorilla. Anyway, not much else to comment on. Grow System Environment: Temp: 72.5Β° RH: 45.8% VPD: 1.44 kPa December 25, 2023 Merry Christmas! Strawberry Gorilla: Day 1 Curing Gorilla Cookies: This little lady is doing alright. She's putting more weight on the bottom branches. Slowly, but it's getting there. She still has a good 3 weeks left. She got a full top feed today. About 2 liter as well as a reservoir refill. It was bone dry. The soil wasn't too far behind either. I added an extra 2 ml to Overdrive today. Just wanna give her a final boost for the rest of the grow. Even the foxtails are starting to get super dense. They are also hardening off. Grow System Environment: Temp: 72.3Β° RH: 49.5% VPD: 1.33 kPa December 26, 2023 Strawberry Gorilla: Day 2 Curing Gorilla Cookies: This lady is near ready for flush. I'll start after she drains out her reservoir. Should be a few days. I'll also check the trichomes tomorrow. When they start showing more cloudy I'll start flushing. Which ever one comes first. I'm betting a few more days. The timing should be perfectly on point. Anyway, her buds are definitely putting on more weight and the lowers are starting to get a bit heavier. There will be tons of larf and popcorn though. No big deal, as long as the popcorn hardens off. I also rotated her a bit. Around 90Β°. Just trying to get more light to the lower part of the plant. One last thing. The top half looks like it could be harvested today, but the bottom half looks like it needs another week. Fortunately, I have supplemental lighting on the way. Hopefully that helps the lower part of the plant catch up a bit more before harvest. Grow System Environment: Temp: 72.1Β° RH: 51.3% VPD: 1.29 kPa

Grow Questions

Prilyfe13started grow question a year ago
Is this FIMed correctly? It's my first time topping or FIMing. I chose to FIM as I've read it can be less stressful on plants. So I'm wondering if I did it correctly. Just after the 4th node. The little pieces sticking out aren't part of the top. Thanks much.

You'll always find people telling you to top or not to top automatic plants. I've topped all my automatic plants and always lst them with great result. If you check out my purple lemonade from fast buds, I've topped and let it and it's flicking huge! Doubled in size compared to all the others. Just do it if you feel like playing around, especially in hydro where the recovery time is minimal.

What LST method should I use with my FIMed Strawberry Gorilla Auto? Should I try to Tie Down? Do I wait for the top shoots to start showing? Tie just the side branches down? Bend the whole plant? Wait and do nothing? Please, all opinions matter. Thanks!

same as any other LST... before it turns woody/rigid to the point it snapps if oyu try to bend it.. that's too late. apical dominance is what you are manipulating. highest growth node takes the most resousrces. permanently or temporarily bending somethign over to even out canopy is an ongoing maintenance process. what space do you need to fill? what is is responsible for in your tent? etc.. shape it as needed. a larger plant you want to keep things bent down and spreading out until it is wide enough to support the size you want - this saves vertical space too. if it's a smaller plant you may just need to spread out branches as they grow vertically a few inches from each other or more... don't have to be as extreme with the bending in that case, but sitll need something to hold it in place - garden wire or scrog etc. if you understand teh cause and effect of apical dominance, you can shape the plant any way you need to. the only wrong way is one that doesnt fit your needs.

Great looking grow so far my brother! We have our little Strawberry Gorilla going now as well....still in week one, but I am watching and learning from your FIM'ing experiences. Keep up the great work!

@Prilyfe13, Guessing on the dried weight, but we will know this week. Jarring it up in the next day or two. It was a massive plant in such a short growing period. It dwarfed what we did with our Orion F1 (which yielded 1.7 oz dried).

@SirVerdePollex, 3-4 oz is pretty good! Congrats on that and at 78 days?! I haven't had a harvest under 90 days. I'm hoping this will be the grow. Under 90 days here I come!

@Prilyfe13, Yeah...Mimosa was a massive plant. Still drying, but probably 3-4 oz dried off one plant in just 78 days from seed to harvest. Impressive!

Nice looking grow! I am planning to FIM or top our next grow (Strawberry Gorilla) so I am certainly following and watching your grow. I have a question for you though. I am curious, why do you think you'll be done in seven weeks? Based on the timing of the plant's vegetative progress (from your photos) and my experience with autos, it will be quite a bit longer than seven weeks. Unless you are talking seven weeks of flowering. Time will tell, but from the looks of it it you have long, beautiful journey as she packs on bids. Good luck!

@Prilyfe13, No worries...glad it's going well and I will certainly be watching. We have a week to ten days left on our Mimosa auto grow. She is huge. Good luck to you with the two gorillas!!

@SirVerdePollex, Thanks for the follow and I'm glad you are learning from my humble diary. I was thinking 7 weeks flower. I think I phrased that wrong. Whoops. I will say the FIM was was a success and the training was successful, but I think I should have waited a few more days to start. Oh well. It's bushy and healthy. That's what matters.

Looks great my good man...both of these ladies! Nice work! We missed the opportunity to try FIM'ing our little gorilla (I was missing in action and came back too late to attempt it). Will have to have a go at it NEXT TIME. Looking forward to seeing what you end up with here...once again, nice work!

The supplemental lighting helped a lot. No more falling leaves at the moment. I should be able to squeeze a few more days out of her for better lower buds.
