Introduction - Week 03 Summary - Ensign's log, stardate 100354.01, Just incredible! Had another easy week of growing! Growth this week was both healthy and perky! By the end of the week, she has clearly grown out of the seedling stage and has started early vegging. Ooowee! Growth is really starting to ramp up! To help keep the local VPD levels a bit more stable, I started using the humidity dome again. I think I removed it too soon. Next grow will most likely have the dome on until she gets too big for it. Towards the end of the week, top growth is looking a bit lime green, but this seems to darken up after a bit. Still have yet to feed any kind of micro nutrients or fertilizers. Although mid-week I fed a bit of aloe, microbes and enzymes. Plan to start a low fertilizer feeding next week which should help (please don't frack this up Ensign). Anyways, next week will also be another DLI boost as she ramps up into full veg. Also will most likely remove the humidity dome soon as she is getting too big for it. Hyped! Great! --- Gave her a quick misting of distilled water. --- Grow healthy little one! - [21:47]: Evening checkup! --- Aye growing along nicely! --- Stoked to see no signs of stunted growth! - [21:57]: Time to increase the DLI a bit more! --- Took a PPFD reading which was at 248 μmol/m2/s --- I then lowered the light down and took another reading. --- The new PPFD reading was at 305 μmol/m2/s --- This gives a DLI of 19.76 mol/m2/d --- This week's DLI goal is 20 mol/m2/d --- Great! --- She'll eventually reach the higher PPFD levels as she grows taller. - [10:15]: Using a spray bottle, I misted the grow bag and surrounding top soil with a bit of distilled water. --- Measured the new light distance and she is now about 18" from the light. --- Also refilled the humidifier again. --- Keep growing strong little one! --- [*smokes a bowl] --- Depending on growth, I'm thinking about starting her first feeding soon (considering either this week or next). --- Beginning with the seedling dosage strength, plan to use the exact same BAS nutrient schedule as the last grow (basically with a week or two delay). --- By this time on my last grow, I have already fed her once which I think caused her yellowing growth. --- I really don't want to feed this one too soon and stunt her growth. --- But I also don't want to limit her growth by starving her of nutrients. --- At least right now, health still looks green and healthy so just going to continue on! --- Please don't frack this up Ensign. Day 02 - Tuesday - 10/04/22 - Total Days: 020 ----------------------------------- Daily Averages - Temps: 77.9°F [25.5°C] - Humidity: 72.2% - VPD: 0.89 kPa ----------------------------------- - [09:37]: Looking good girl! --- Growing along green with no signs of yellowing. Hyped! --- Gave the grow bag and top soil a misting of distilled water. - [09:46]: Adjusted the tent's environment a bit more. --- The humidifier's controller target values are now at 76.0°F/78.0% [TEMP/RH] with a 2°/2.5% [TEMP/RH] differential variance. --- The exhaust controller's temperature triggers are now at 85°F/72°F [HIGH/LOW] with a 2/10 [MIN/MAX] speed. - [18:04]: Good evening my little one! --- Growing along nice and green! --- Hmm. --- The RH is still too low around the canopy, so going to bring the humidity dome back. --- First I misted the grow bag and surrounding top soil with some distilled water. --- Then misted the humidity dome before placing it on. Vents were slightly opened. - [18:09]: Opened the vents a bit on the dome. --- Now the vents are about half opened. --- At this stage of growth, I want the RH higher than the tent can provide. The use of the dome should help to increase the RH and lower the VPD. Day 03 - Wednesday - 10/05/22 - Total Days: 021 ----------------------------------- Daily Averages - Temps: 77.3°F [25.2°C] - Humidity: 72.6% - VPD: 0.86 kPa ----------------------------------- - [09:44]: Morning checkup! --- Looking good girl! --- Nice! Using the dome seems to be helping! --- Also having a hygrometer under the dome will provide more accurate TEMP/RH readings. --- The canopy's TEMP/RH are at 82.5F/72% which gives a VPD of 1.06 kPa --- Glad to see that local VPD levels are better now. --- Will probably continue using the dome until she gets too big for it. --- Misted the grow bag and surrounding top soil with some distilled water. --- Also misted the humidity dome before placing it back on. Vents about halfway open. --- Refilled the humidifier too. --- Hmm. While using the dome, I may lower the tent's RH. This should save a bit of distilled water (don't need the whole tent to be humid when the dome is enough for now). --- [No further entries were logged for the remainder of the day] Day 04 - Thursday - 10/06/22 - Total Days: 022 ----------------------------------- Daily Averages - Temps: 77.8°F [25.4°C] - Humidity: 73.0% - VPD: 0.86 kPa ----------------------------------- - [09:13]: Good morning girl! --- Wow growth looks incredible! --- Her 3rd set of serrated leaves are already growing in perky and healthy! --- Misted the grow bag and top soil with a bit of distilled water. --- Also misted the dome before placing it back on (vents slightly opened). --- Grow strong and healthy my little one! --- As far as feeding, been trying to decide what to do. - [09:43]: Decided to compare growth to my previous grow. --- [*Smokes a bowl] --- Wow what a difference! --- This current attempt, although a bit smaller, looks a lot greener and healthier! --- The last grow looked stressed with a lime yellow color. --- So when should start feeding her? --- I really (really) want to! --- But also don't want to stunt her by feeding to early. --- Hmm. --- Around this time, the last seedling was already fed once with a second feeding being planned for the evening. --- I also started bottom watering the EarthBox. --- Hmm. --- For this grow, I think I'll hold off on feeding for another week. --- Also going to hold off on bottom watering as well. --- Her growth looks green and healthy so I don't see a reason to give her additional nutrients. --- Yep. Last grow I started feeding way too early (Damnit Ensign). --- Anyways, --- Tonight, similar to last week, think I'll just feed aloe and microbes. - [17:13]: Evening checkup! --- Nice! She's getting bigger! --- Almost reaching the sides of the grow bag. --- Growth still looks nice and green too! --- So opting to wait yet another week before feeding any fertilizers and micro aminos. --- Just gonna give a bit of aloe and inoculate the soil with microbes and enzymes. - [17:16]: Time to re-inoculate the soil with more microbes! --- Filled a measuring cup with a cup of distilled water. --- Added 1/64tsp of the following BAS products: ----- Quillaja Saponaria Extract ----- Horticultural Aloe --- Added 1/16tsp of Mycrobe Complete --- Added 2 drops of Bio-Catalyst Enzyme Elixer --- Mixed the solution and poured it straight into a spray bottle. --- Misted the grow bag along with the top soil of the EarthBox. Emptied the whole bottle. --- Misted the dome with distilled water before placing it back on. Vents fully closed. --- Also refilled the humidifier (distilled water with a bit of Hydrogen Peroxide). Day 05 - Friday - 10/07/22 - Total Days: 023 ----------------------------------- Daily Averages - Temps: 77.4°F [25.2°C] - Humidity: 72.8% - VPD: 0.85 kPa ----------------------------------- - [09:18]: Good morning! --- Wow she looks happy and perky! --- Growth still looks nice and green too! --- Misted the grow bag and surrounding soil with a bit of distilled water. --- Also misted the dome before placing it back on. - [21:57]: Evening check! --- Hmm. The dome was still quite foggy with condensation. --- Nice! Under the dome, growth looked nice and healthy! --- Although, her top leaves do look a bit yellowish. --- Misted the grow bag and surrounding soil with distilled water. --- Misted the dome too before placing it back on. Vents slightly open. - [22:10]: Decided to open the vents all the way on the humidity dome. --- I think the VPD is getting too low under the dome when fully misted, so going to vent the excess moisture. Day 06 - Saturday - 10/08/22 - Total Days: 024 ----------------------------------- Daily Averages - Temps: 77.4°F [25.2°C] - Humidity: 73.1% - VPD: 0.84 kPa ----------------------------------- - [08:10]: Good morning little one! --- Nice! Growth is looking very perky! --- Re-misted the dome with distilled water and placed it back on. Vents halfway open. - [19:45]: Evening checkup! --- Nice! Noticeable top growth! --- Misted the grow bag and surrounding soil with distilled water. --- Placed the dry humidity dome back on without misting. Vents fully opened. --- To help further dial in the temps and RH, I placed a few more hygrometers in the tent. --- Now I should be able to check the difference in local VPD readings both inside and outside the dome. Day 07 - Sunday - 10/09/22 - Total Days: 025 ----------------------------------- Daily Averages - Temps: 76.7°F [24.8°C] - Humidity: 72.7% - VPD: 0.84 kPa ----------------------------------- - [07:19]: Good morning my beautiful! --- Wow growth looks incredible! --- She looks green and happy! --- Nice! The local Temp/RH was at 79.8F/71% which gives a VPD of 1.01 kPa --- With a target range of 0.8-1.1 kPa, this is perfect! --- To keep the VPD a bit more stable, not going to mist. --- I just placed the dome back with the vents fully opened. - [21:35]: Evening checkup! --- Opps! --- Humidifier was empty, so promptly refilled it with distilled water (along with 15-20mL of Hydrogen Peroxide). --- Woah! She got bigger! --- She is growing beyond the edge of the grow bag and top growth has change quite a bit since this morning. Hyped! --- I am a bit concerned about the slight yellowing of the new growth, but as the leaves mature, they usually get greener. --- Regardless, I am both hyped and stoked for this grow!! --- It's also fascinating to see the genetic difference in leaf growth when comparing indica and sativa. --- This being my first sativa cultivar to make it this far, I can already see the narrower leaf growth compared to indica plants which has a more wider leaf structure. --- Just incredible! --- Anyways, - [21:41]: Took a height measurement and she was just about 3.25" tall! --- Not going mist her with distilled water. --- Instead, just slightly misted the top of the humidity dome with distilled water before placing it back on. Vents fully open. --- Not much else to do. --- Grow on my girl! - [23:21]: Curious on the VPD. --- One more checkup for the night! --- The local Temp/RH was at 81.3F/67% which gives a VPD of 1.20 kPa --- A bit too high. But still okay. --- Also measured the distance between the canopy and the light which was about 15.5" --- Okay, now done! --- Wow! Another easy grow week! --- Plan to increase the DLI even further next week (tomorrow). --- Also depending on her growth, I may have to remove the humidity dome soon. --- Next week will also be the start of nutrient feeding (I think).
