Introduction - Week 19 Summary - Ensign's log, stardate 100676.97, Been another pretty easy week of growing! Just basic checks and humidifier refills. Because of the over-watering, I didn't water or feed anything this week. Also did a bit of vermicomposting by doing a full worm bin transplant. Plan to use the harvested castings during the next re-amend. Ahhh yea! Finally made it! Again!! HARVEST!!! Harvested the entire tent towards the end of the week and have already begun the drying process! Going for a slow 14-16 day drying period. Then it will be on to a 14 day cure before the big smoke! One major positive difference from the last drying attempt is that both temperatures and humidity are looking a lot better. Not struggling with high temps at all. Winter harvests are the best! Similar to the last grow log, the next post will cover the weeks of the drying, trimming, and curing. Also will probably start posting the next grow ('Fuel D.OG' by 'Seedsman') around the same time! So until then, Peace & Long Life ✌️🖖 [START OF WEEK 19] ========================================================== WEEK 19 - Bloom 8 [Harvest] → Drying 1 WEEK 12 - Bloom 7 [Harvest] → Drying 1 WEEK 11 - Bloom 7 [Harvest] → Drying 1 WEEK 11 - Bloom 6 [Harvest] → Drying 1 01/23/23 → 01/29/23 [HARVESTED on 01/26/23] This Week's Estimated Goals ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DLI: 45 mol/m2/d PPFD: 694 μmol/m2/s VPD: 1.5-1.7 kPa This Week's Meter Readings & Averages ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DLI: 47.43 mol/m2/d PPFD: 732 μmol/m2/s VPD: 1.00 kPa ========================================================== Day 01 - Monday - 01/23/23 - Total Days: 131 [086] [082] ----------------------------------- Daily Averages - Temps: 73.7°F [23.2°C] - Humidity: 53.2% - VPD: 1.30 kPa - Soil %: [29, 25, 36, 39] ----------------------------------- - [09:16]: Ahhh- Yea! --- 3 More Days Until Harvest! --- Morning checkup! --- Bud growth is a very nice dark purple! Wow! Just frosted over with white and amber trichomes! --- Gonna be an easy day of growing! - [21:42]: Evening checkup! --- Hyped for harvest! --- Nice! Ladies look just incredible! --- Wow! Purple bud growth is so beautiful! --- Ooowee! Fuel-like terpenes are just slapping loud! --- Not going to water anything more until harvest. --- Simply refilled the humidifier with distilled water and Hydrogen Peroxide (~20mL). Day 02 - Tuesday - 01/24/23 - Total Days: 132 [087] [083] ----------------------------------- Daily Averages - Temps: 74.2°F [23.4°C] - Humidity: 52.5% - VPD: 1.34 kPa - Soil %: [28, 23, 34, 37] ----------------------------------- - [09:52]: Morning checkup! --- Growth is looking great! --- Wow! --- Two More Days Until Harvest!! --- Trichomes are clearly ambering nicely on sugar leaves! --- Also the terps are getting pretty fuel-like! --- Buds are looking nice and ripe! Stoked! --- In contrast, the tall twin still looks far from harvest ready. --- The other 3 look nice and ripe so going to continue on with harvest (Thursday morning). - [09:56]: Defoliated the tall twin a bit. --- Plucked off more damaged leaves. Tucked the trimmings under the mulch cover. --- However, there were still some weird looking finger counts. Had leaves ranging from 1 to 3 fingers. I think this is a characteristic of re-vegging? --- But wow! She's still very loud in the terps! Leaves were just covered in trichomes! --- Just going to continue on! --- Okay finally going to tend to the worms and do a full bin transplant. --- All the coco and peat moss has been processed into castings so it's about time for another transplant! --- But before I can do that, have to prep a new bin! - [11:47]: Using another plastic container (same size as the current bin), I started to prep the coco. --- First I broke off chunks of coco coir (from a brick) and placed them into the bin. Filled the bottom of the new bin with about 0.5" of dry coco coir. - [12:24]: Filled a measuring cup with 2 cups of distilled water. --- May add more water, but going to start with 2 cups and go from there. --- Similar to last time, going to be re-hydrating and inoculating with microbes and aminos. --- Added 1/32tsp of Quillaja Saponaria Extract --- Added 1/2tsp of Pure Protein Dry [Organic Fish Aminos] --- Added 1/8tsp of each of the following: ----- Mycrobe Complete ----- Great White --- Added 1mL of Bio-Catalyst Enzyme Elixer --- Mixed the solution and poured it straight into the bin. --- Once hydrated, the dried coco easily tripled in size. --- When squeezed, the coco felt like a moist sponge. Great! - [12:55]: Time to check the bin! --- Wow! It's been a good 40 days since the last checkup. --- There were no worms at the surface. Probably because of the lower temps. --- Mixed the top of the bin. --- Time to separate the worms and harvest the castings! - [13:03]: Going one layer at a time, started gently removing the castings and placed them into a storage container. --- Splitting the bin into two separate containers (one for castings, one for the worms). --- As I was harvesting the castings, I gently picked any worms out and placed them into the smaller container for later. --- Also placed a bit of broccoli along with the old mango seed into the worm container. --- Since I planned on saving the harvested castings, took my time to sift through the entire bin. - [14:19]: Okay done! --- Glad to find most of the worms at the bottom! --- There were also a significant amount of baby worms, so had to be extra careful. --- Also glad to say that even though the substrate was pretty moist, there was no foul odor at all! --- Okay time to transplant the worms into their new home! - [14:24]: Dropped the worms into their new bin. --- Included with the worms was about a 1.5 cups of the original castings. --- There was also the old mango seed along with a bit of broccoli left in the pile as well. --- This will help to inoculate the bin with soil microbes. --- Then added about a solo cup of dried BAS Oly Mountain soil around the mound of compost and worms. - [15:11]: Time to top dress! --- Sprinkled 1tbsp of: ----- Craft Blend ----- Gnarly Barley [pre-milled] ----- Kashi Blend --- While leaving the compost alone, gently mixed everything into the top inch of soil. - [15:28]: Filled a spray bottle with 1/2 cup of distilled water --- Misted most of the bottle onto the top soil. --- Covered the soil in the bin with some shredded brown paper. --- Misted the paper with distilled water. --- Covered everything with a sheet of brown paper and wet the top with the rest of the distilled water. - [15:47]: Sealed the bin with a cleaned lid. --- Placed the harvested casting back into the original bin. --- Plan to save these castings and will mix this into the top soil of both EarthBoxes when I re-amend for the next grow (so well after harvest). - [15:53]: To keep the biology alive and also pest free, going to inoculate and bio-fumigate the harvested castings with a bit of bokashi and mustard seed meal. --- Just in-case of any worm cocoons hatching or if I missed a few worms during the harvest (which I probably did), added some sprouted seeds for worm food. --- Sprinkled 1tbsp of: ----- Gnarly Barley ----- Kashi Blend ----- Milled Mustard Seed Meal --- Gently mixed everything into the top half inch of the substrate. --- Then covered the bin with a freshly drilled lid. --- Going to let the amendments break down to further increase the nutrition. --- Will set this aside until the EarthBoxes get re-amended. --- Great! - [17:23]: Evening check up! --- Growth is looking and smelling amazing! --- Wow! Purple and frosty! --- Close up bud shots clearly reveal amber trichomes! --- Despite the imperfections, she looks incredible to me! --- Gonna be an easy grow night! --- No need to water. --- Simply refilled the humidifier with distilled water and Hydrogen Peroxide (~20mL). - [18:19]: Decided to re-attach the garden yo-yo. --- Gently re-attached the yo-yo back onto the top bud to straighten her out a bit. --- Okay cool! --- Looking much better! --- Wow, --- 2 More Days Until Harvest! Day 03 - Wednesday - 01/25/23 - Total Days: 133 [088] [084] ----------------------------------- Daily Averages - Temps: 75.5°F [24.2°C] - Humidity: 51.6% - VPD: 1.43 kPa - Soil %: [28, 23, 34, 37] ----------------------------------- - [09:31]: Quick morning checkup! --- Wow! Terps are smelling pretty loud! --- Also bud growth is still looking great! --- Ahhh yea! --- --- ONE --- --- More --- --- Day --- --- Until --- --- Harvest! --- - [21:32]: Final evening checkup! --- Ladies are looking incredible! --- Wow! Smelling even better! --- Buds are all purple and frosty! Amber trichomes are clearly visible! --- Stoked! --- Not much to do tonight. --- Simply refilled the humidifier with distilled water and Hydrogen Peroxide (~20mL). --- Ooowee! --- Harvest time is TOMORROW!! --- Too hyped! Day 04 - Thursday - 01/26/23 - Total Days: 134 [089] [085] - HARVEST ----------------------------------- Daily Averages - Temps: 64.4°F [18.0°C] - Humidity: 61.6% - VPD: 0.78 kPa - Soil %: [28, 23, 33, 35] ----------------------------------- - [09:35]: HARVEST DAY! --- Good morning! --- Nice! Growth is looking great! --- And wow, smelling even better! --- All but the tallest twin look nice and ripe. --- Regardless, harvesting the whole lot today! - [09:47]: Adjusted the Mars Hydro FC-6500's light schedule. --- Within the AC Infinity App, --- Temporarily disabled the automation and switched the grow light from OFF to ON (at intensity level 6). --- Will later set the light back to OFF. Will also setup a dry schedule for the light later (OFF the whole time). --- Great! Okay! --- Before harvest, want to take final growth readings. - [10:03]: Took final PPFD readings. --- PPFD readings for the main grow was at 745 μmol/m2/s which gives a DLI of 48.28 mol/m2/d --- PPFD readings for the young plant was at 738 μmol/m2/s which gives a DLI of 47.82 mol/m2/d --- PPFD readings for the short twin was at 624 μmol/m2/s which gives a DLI of 40.66 mol/m2/d --- PPFD readings for the tall twin was at 648 μmol/m2/s which gives a DLI of 41.99 mol/m2/d --- Great! - [10:20]: Took final height readings. --- The original grow was around 17.5" tall. --- The second plant in the original EarthBox was about 16.5" tall. --- The short twin was 8.75" tall. --- The tall twin was 11.5" tall. --- The distance between the original grow and light was around 17" --- The distance between the second plant and the light was around 18" --- The distance between the short twin and the light was around 25.5" --- The distance between the tall twin and the light was around 22.5" - [10:31]: Checked the final Ecowitt soil moisture sensor data: --- 28% - [CH01 EB1 Original Grow] --- 23% - [CH02 EB1 Second Plant] --- 33% - [CH03 EB2 Short Twin] --- 35% - [CH04 EB2 Tall Twin] --- Soil moisture has pretty much remained the same over the last 2 weeks. --- Shaka, yea I over-watered. --- Anyways! --- Okay now time to prep for harvest by adjusting the tent's temps and RH. - [10:47]: Adjusted the environmental controls for drying. --- The heater and humidifier's controller target TEMP/RH values were adjusted from 72°F/59% to 59°F/62% --- Within the AC Infinity App, --- Created a new 'Drying [0/24]' Automation Schedule for the Exhaust Fan (T6). --- Set the START/END time to 12:00am/12:00am --- Set this schedule to 'Auto Mode.' --- Adjusted the exhaust fan's controller temperature HIGH/LOW values to 72°F/55°F --- Adjusted the exhaust fan's controller humidity HIGH/LOW values to 65%/45% --- Adjusted the exhaust fan's controller speed MIN/MAX values to 00/08 --- Will adjust these settings as needed. --- Also, plan to continue to create separate Automation Schedules for the grow light to help dial in (and keep track of) environmental settings during each stage of growth. --- Great! Now for the lighting. - [11:15]: Within the AC Infinity App, --- To make it a bit easier on the eyes during checkups, I dimmed the light's MAX intensity down from 6 to 1. --- Also raised the light as high as it would go (just under the carbon filter and exhaust fan). - [11:52]: Attached two drying lines across the light. --- Using 2 spare ratchet ropes, I made basic drying lines. --- Kept a bit of slack in the lines for easy plant spacing. The idea is to hang 2 on each line. --- Unlike last dry cycle, going to leave the grow light inside the tent and will simply hang the plants straight off the lights (using garden yo-yos). --- Shaka, similar to last grow, still don't have a basic hook scale. --- So again, no final wet weight (Damnit Ensign). --- [*smokes a bowl] --- Oh well. --- Cool! Gonna wait a bit before the big harvest! --- [*smokes a bowl] --- Nice! At the lower light levels, the photos look a whole lot better! Nothing looks too warm. Great! --- Buds are purple and stanky! Wow! --- Okay. - [13:57]: HARVEST TIME! --- First I removed all the garden yo-yos. --- Wow! The second plant easily shot up a good 5-6 taller! Garden yo-yos really --- Then removed the training wire ties. --- Plan to hang each plant upside down with the main plants in front and the twins in the back. - [14:08]: Using a basic hacksaw, I carefully cut the base of each plant. --- Had to rotate the EarthBoxes around, but started with the twins before harvesting the , I cut and hung each plant upside-down and securely attached them to the drying the lines with garden yo-yos and binder clips. --- Also lowered the oscillating fan closer to the floor. --- Ooowee! The terpenes are slapping! --- Loud and gassy! Wow! --- Really hope this profile carries over to the final smoke! --- Too hyped! --- Great! --- Removed both EarthBoxes from the tent and quickly gave the floor a wipe-down. --- Also refilled the humidifier with distilled water and Hydrogen Peroxide (~20mL). --- Placed the humidifier a bit closer to the fan. Also re-angled the heater. - [15:11]: Sealed the tent. --- Also switched the grow light to OFF (will later create a drying schedule for a 24/0 OFF/ON cycle). --- Also adjusted the Oscillating Fan's Speed from 6 to 4 --- Done! --- Plan to keep the EarthBoxes outside of the tent. Plan to re-amend next week --- Wow! Terpenes are a bit loud! --- With the fan off, the carbon filter can't do its job. - [16:06]: Adjusted the exhaust fan's MIN/MAX speed. --- Within the AC Infinity App, inside the 'Drying [0/24]' Automation Schedule for the Primary Exhaust Fan (T6), --- Adjusted the exhaust fan's controller speed MIN/MAX values from 00/08 to 01/08 --- May increase the speed a bit more later, but going for a slow dry so trying to keep the exhaust fan at the lowest setting. --- With the slightly increased negative air pressure, the aromas shouldn't seep out into the room. --- Great! --- Now for the 14-16 day drying period with an additional 14 day cure! --- Plan to do daily checkups in the evening to make sure there are no issues. Day 05 - Friday - 01/27/23 - Total Days: 135 [090] [086] ----------------------------------- Daily Averages - Temps: 61.5°F [16.4°C] - Humidity: 62.4% - VPD: 0.68 kPa - Soil %: [00, 00, 00, 00] ----------------------------------- - [21:01]: Evening checkup! --- Day 1 of Drying! --- Looking pretty good! --- As expected, the leaves are wilting yet still look pretty hydrated. --- Going for a slow 14-16 day dry. --- Glad that none of the leaves have started to turn crispy yet. --- Great! Day 06 - Saturday - 01/28/23 - Total Days: 136 [091] [087] ----------------------------------- Daily Averages - Temps: 63.7°F [17.6°C] - Humidity: 61.9% - VPD: 0.75 kPa - Soil %: [00, 00, 00, 00] ----------------------------------- - [20:05]: Day 2 of Drying! --- Leaves look a bit more wilted. --- Nothing looks too dry. Great! --- Refilled the humidifier with distilled water and Hydrogen Peroxide (~20mL). --- Hmm. --- While refilling, the humidifier started making a strange noise (never a good sign). After a bit of percussive maintenance (hitting the unit a few times), the noise stopped. --- May need to get a new one soon (Damnit Ensign). --- Really hope this one lasts until the end of the drying cycle. Day 07 - Sunday - 01/29/23 - Total Days: 130 [085] [081] ----------------------------------- Daily Averages - Temps: 62.5°F [16.9°C] - Humidity: 62.7% - VPD: 0.70 kPa - Soil %: [00, 00, 00, 00] ----------------------------------- - [20:37]: Day 3 of drying! --- Getting drier, but leaves are still not all crispy. --- Glad to find no signs of mold or rot. --- Also both temps and RH are looking great! --- Last time, I was struggling with high temps. --- But this time, I'm managing to keep the environment within the target goal of 60°F at 60% RH --- Definitely a huge bonus for harvesting during the wintertime! --- Don't need to do anything now but maintain the environment and wait! - [22:26]: Opps! --- A bit late. --- Another filled calendar! Need to board wipe! [END OF WEEK 19]

@Dirty_Hippy, Siiick!! Now I'm no expert but feel free to follow along growmie! I try to post weekly! I'm still learning how to grow in it, but have so far enjoyed using the EarthBox. I recommend checking out the BuildASoil YT channel if you really want great free info on organic growing in the EarthBox.
