Introduction - Week 14 Summary -
Ensign's log, stardate 101579.85,
Overall a smooth week of growing!
Bloom is considerably easier than veg. Most of the work has been done so not much but to wait and watch the grass grow.
Ordered a set of Ecowitt soil moisture sensors (via BuildASoil) to help with my waterings. The plan is to be able to quantify soil moisture levels over time. This data will help me to dial in the ideal soil moisture range (25-45% with an ideal target goal of 35%).
Oh! Did a bit of low-stress training in the form of flexible garden wire ties. Added a couple to reshape lower satellite branches. This was my first time applying any form of wire ties, but everything went quite smoothly.
Training aside, the second plant is just raging with bud growth! All of her bud sites are just fattening up! Even the lower growth is just stacking! Very nice!
Not much else was done. Another all around easy week of growing.
Steady as she grows Ensign! 🖖

- [09:30]: Morning checkup!
--- Looking great girls!
--- Growth is all around looking nice and happy!
--- Buds are also getting larger!
--- And wow the odor profile is smelling great! Gassy terpenes!
- [22:03]: Evening my ladies!
--- Nice! Everyone is looking great!
--- Growth looking happy and buds are just thickening up!
--- Hyped!
--- Oh. Also refilled the humidifier with distilled water and a bit of Hydrogen Peroxide (~20mL).
--- Not much else to do but wait! Easy day!
Day 02 - Tuesday - 12/20/22 - Total Days: 097 [052] [048]
-----------------------------------
Daily Averages
- Temps: 73.1°F [22.8°C]
- Humidity: 54.7%
- VPD: 1.23 kPa
-----------------------------------
- [09:48]: Morning my girls!
--- Wow looking great!
--- Ooowee! Upon opening the tent, was slapped with some loud gassy terps!
--- Buds are really starting to get thicker too!
--- Plan to bottom water tonight.
--- May also do a bit of low stress training (LST) as well.
- [16:45]: Good evening ladies!
--- Wow! Growth is looking perky!
--- Leaves are looking stable and growth is all around nice and healthier!
--- Buds are just getting frosty! Also as they mature, orange is starting to develop on the pistil hairs. The back plant (original grow) is showing a lot more orange, but the front plant looks healthier.
--- Even the late blooming twin is starting to green up and her top bud is starting to thicken up with growth!
--- Hyped!
- [16:48]: Checked the soil moisture for both EarthBoxes.
--- The soil for the new EarthBox was getting drier (with a reading of 3.9 out of 10).
--- The soil on the other side had a bit more moisture (with a reading of a 4.9 out of 10).
--- The top soil on both sides looked nice and hydrated.
--- The soil for the original EarthBox was pretty dry (with a reading of a 3 out of 10).
--- The top soil was also looking moist but drier than the new EarthBox.
--- Time to bottom water!
- [17:09]: Filled a pitcher with 4 cups of distilled water.
--- Added 1/32tsp of Quillaja Saponaria Extract
--- Added 1/16tsp of Bio-Phos
--- Added 5mL of Yah-Whey
--- Added 1.25mL of Bio-Catalyst Enzyme Elixer
--- Mixed the solution and poured 2 cups into each EarthBox's fill tube.
--- Did not need to defoliate!
--- Refilled the humidifier with distilled water and Hydrogen Peroxide (~20mL).
--- Hmm.
--- The original grow is showing signs of purple stems.
--- Pretty sure this is a nutrient issue caused be improper watering (damnit Ensign).
--- Maintaining proper soil moisture levels have been a huge struggle.
--- Screw it!
--- Ordered a set of moisture meters (via BuildASoil) to hopefully help with this issue.
--- These Ecowitt soil sensors (WH51) are interesting because unlike the meter I am currently using (Sonkir 3-in-1) these will be left in the soil the whole grow.
--- The Ecowitt hub (GW1000) should be able to detect and log local soil moisture levels over time which will be very useful for future waterings.
--- According to BuildASoil, a good soil moisture range for living soil is around 25-45% with an ideal target goal of 35%
--- The sensor seems to be weather resistant and pre-calibrated with the ability to detect a full range of moisture (0% = dry sand, 100% = pure water)
- [20:37]: Decided to do a bit of LST by adding a couple garden wire ties.
--- These soft rubber coated wire ties were cut (no more than 3" long) and gently coiled around specific branches that I want to bend.
--- Similar to bonsai branch training, once the wire was attached, I very carefully bent the branch in the direction I wanted it to grow.
--- These bends were made to uncover lower bud sites that were being blocked. Also to give more light coverage by widening the canopy footprint.
--- Great!
Day 03 - Wednesday - 12/21/22 - Total Days: 098 [053] [049]
-----------------------------------

--- Even the little ones in the new EarthBox are just looking great!
--- Not much to do but wait!
- [21:15]: Evening checkup!
--- Growth is still looking great!
--- Wow the terpenes are starting to really get louder too!
--- Stoked!
--- Well another easy day of growing!
--- Just refilled the humidifier with distilled water and Hydrogen Peroxide (~20mL).

[END OF WEEK 14]
@gottagrowsometime,
Thanks! Yea, these seeds were a bit pale, but the germinated seed has already sprouted from the soil and I looks healthy. Hoping for the best!
@Dirty_Hippy,
Siiick!! Now I'm no expert but feel free to follow along growmie! I try to post weekly! I'm still learning how to grow in it, but have so far enjoyed using the EarthBox. I recommend checking out the BuildASoil YT channel if you really want great free info on organic growing in the EarthBox.
