Introduction - Week 09|02 Summary -
Ensign's log, stardate 9342.02,
Been a pretty steady week of growing.
Haven’t really watered all week. Been trying to not over-water.
Mainly been misting the top growth and straw mulch with distilled water. Also gave a couple of coconut and aloe foliar sprays.
Also watered #4 (in the solo cup). So far growth is looking green and healthy!
Steady as she grows Ensign.

- [21:56]: Evening check.
--- The garden is still looking good!
--- Both #1 and #3 are growing along and looking healthy! #3 is looking the most uniform, but #1 is just exploding with new growth!
--- #2 is getting there but is clearly lagging behind. She’s starting to show signs of slight nodal stretching. I really hope she makes it!
--- #4 is looking great! But still sort of lime.
- [22:03]: Using a spray bottle,
--- Misted the top growth and straw mulch with distilled water (~2-5 sprays each).
- [22:11]: Checked the humidifier.
--- Tank was under half full.
--- Refilled the humidifier with distilled water (~2.5gal).
Day 04 - Thursday - 05/02/24 - Total Days: 066

Daily Averages [~23:00]
- Temps: 80.1°F [26.7°C]
- Humidity: 76.6%
- VPD: 0.81 kPa
- Soil %: [32, 26, 30, 30]
-----------------------------------
- [18:57]: Evening check.
--- #1 and #3 are looking great! Clearly #1 is biggest, but #3 is still looking the moist uniform. Just keep on growing ladies!
--- #2 is getting there! Can see more nodal spacing and her next set of leaves are looking a more uniform. Continuing to hope that she grows out of this slow start.
--- #4 is looking pretty good! She’s still a bit lime in color and she does feel a bit on the lighter side (compared to the dry control cup).
- [19:02]: Took general PPFD readings.
--- #1 and #2 were around 301 μmol/m²/s which gives a DLI of 19.50 mol/m²/d
--- #3 was around 305 μmol/m²/s which gives a DLI of 19.76 mol/m²/d
--- #4 was around 264 μmol/m²/s which gives a DLI of 17.11 mol/m²/d
- [19:09]: Took the weekly height and light distance measurements.
--- #1 was about 3" tall.
--- #2 was about 1.5" tall.
--- #3 was about 3" tall.
--- #4 was about 2.5" tall.
--- #1 was about 27.25" away from the grow light.
--- #2 was about 28.5" away from the grow light.
--- #3 was about 25.25" away from the grow light.
--- #4 was about 26" away from the grow light.
- [19:22]: Checked the Ecowitt soil moisture sensor data:
--- 32% - [CH01 EB1 - Garlic Budder #1]
--- 26% - [CH02 EB1 - Secondary]
--- 30% - [CH03 EB2 - Garlic Budder #2]
--- 31% - [CH04 GFP - Garlic Budder #3]
--- I really want to water!
--- But soil moisture still seems okay so will just foliar spray.
--- Hmm. Wonder exactly how heavy #4 is.
- [19:27]: Took the weight for #4 by placing her on a basic scale.
--- She weighed 254.9g
--- The dry cup (for comparison) weighed 223.8g
--- Since both cups weigh just about the same, going give #4 a watering.
--- Time to foliar feed!
--- It’s also been a good 8 days since the initial solo cup wetting.
--- Decided to water #4 with a full soil drench. Going to use the same solution to drench the soil.
--- Please don’t frack it up Ensign!
--- Basically going with the same solution but with some added microbes.
- [19:35]: Filled a measuring cup with 1/2 cup of distilled water.
------ Added a pinch of Quillaja Saponaria Extract [60]
------ Added 1/64tsp of Horticultural Coconut
------ Added 1/64tsp of Horticultural Aloe
------ Added 1/32tsp of Mycrobe Complete
--- Mixed and poured the solution straight into a spray bottle.
--- With the exception of #4, gently misted the top growth of all plants (~3-5 sprays each).
--- Okay time for the solo cup drench.
- [19:46]: Sprayed #4’s straw mulch.
--- Using a 1/4cup of the same solution, slowly misted around the solo cup as evenly as I could.
--- Focused on the straw mulch and tried to keep the top growth dry.
--- There was just a tiny bit of runoff (a few drops started pooling in the tray).
--- Misted the rest of the solution onto the straw mulch of the EarthBoxes and fabric pot.
--- Now that #4 is fully watered, decided to reweigh the solo cup.
- [19:55]: Took the wet weight for #4 by placing her on a basic scale.
--- She weighed 317.7g
--- Pretty nervous and really hope I didn’t kill her by overwatering. Please don’t die on my girl!
- [19:56]: Checked the humidifier.
--- Tank was about half full.
--- Refilled the humidifier with distilled water (~2gal).
Day 05 - Friday - 05/03/24 - Total Days: 067

- Humidity: 77.1%
- VPD: 0.80 kPa
- Soil %: [32, 26, 30, 30]
-----------------------------------
- [20:07]: Evening check.
--- #1 is looking better than #3, but both are looking good!
--- #2 is still growing along!
--- Wow! #4 has gotten noticeably larger! She’s looking a bit lime, but I think she’s growing just fine!
- [22:15]: Using a spray bottle,
--- Misted the top growth and straw mulch with distilled water (~2-5 sprays each).
- [22:19]: Checked the humidifier.
--- Tank was about half full.

- Soil %: [32, 26, 30, 30]
-----------------------------------
- [20:27]: Evening check.
--- #1 and #3 are growing along nicely! #1 is definitely dominating this grow.
--- #2 is still growing.
--- #4 is showing more signs of growth! A bit lime in color, but she’s looking good to me! Won’t need to water for a few days. I think.
- [20:25]: Using a spray bottle,
--- Misted the top growth and straw mulch with distilled water (~2-5 sprays each).
- [20:28]: Checked the humidifier.
--- Tank was about half full.
--- Refilled the humidifier with distilled water (~2gal).
Day 07 - Sunday - 05/05/24 - Total Days: 069

-----------------------------------
- [20:18]: Evening check.
--- #1 is looking great! Like the canopy growth and she’s looking nice and perky!
--- #3 is looking good too! She’s a lot more uniform, but also darker in color. She’s also a bit droopy. Could this be a sign of under watering?
--- #2 is still a seedling with noticeable top growth!
--- #4 is growing along just fine! Growth is looking a bit darker and she is starting to catch up with #3.
- [20:25]: Using a spray bottle,
--- Misted the top growth and straw mulch with distilled water (~2-5 sprays each).
- [20:28]: Checked the humidifier.
--- Tank was about half full.
--- Refilled the humidifier with distilled water (~2gal).
[END OF WEEK 09|02]
Very detailed diary. I like ur heater. Something I don't need but definitely want 1 lol..
Look forward to seen how you adapt this to pushing your grows forward.
@gottagrowsometime,
Thanks growmie! Yea, sometimes I can get a bit too detailed, but this is all just for fun!
Been using Ac Infinity's Thermoforge T3 heater for just over 2 weeks and have to say that it's the best! Highly recommend! The unit easily heats a 4x4ft grow tent along with my 10x10ft lung room. Keep in mind that it never snows where I live, but it can get pretty cold in the winter (Southern California - US). What's most impressive is that in combination with the Cloudforge T7, my overall weekly VPD averages have been a lot more stable! Also the day to night temp swings have been greatly reduced (less than 10 degrees/percent difference on the weekly temps/RH averages).
I see you're running Build-A-Soil.. Great company, products, ethics! The dude has a sweet youtube channel as well worth checking out if you haven't. Cheers good luck!
