Introduction - Week 20|13 Summary -
Ensign's log, stardate 9552.10,
Another hot grow week!
Wow it’s been baking hot! Still pretty hot in the flower tent and leaves are starting to burn. Summer grows without AC are always brutal. Could be better but can always be worse. Just gonna keep on growing.
In contrast, the hot temps have been perfect for the veg tent! Growth is looking green and happy!
To help increase the distance between the canopy and the light, tried super-cropping for the first time. Hope I didn’t overdo it. But now the top canopy is a lot more even.
Also topped the clones in the veg tent. They were getting way too close to the light. On the positive side, as soon as drying is done, I can immediately start the next round!
Comparing the difference in growth between the two tents has been helpful with diagnosing. I'm pretty sure I'm just struggling with temperatures. Nothing I can do so no worries.
Steady as she grows Ensign!

--- Plan to top in a few days.
--- #3 is looking nice and bushy!
--- Solo cups looked great and did not need watering.
- [23:18]: Checked the humidifiers.
--- Refilled the humidifiers with distilled water as needed.
--- Wow temps have been hot. Absolutely perfect conditions for vegging! Not so good for flowering.
--- Heat aside, the growth for #4 in the fabric pot continues to impress.
--- When using the Ecowitt soil sensors, top watering seems to be easier while giving more control.
--- Also, since I plan to also go back to topdressing next cycle (Craft Blend + more), top watering makes more sense than bottom watering.
--- Just stoked to try a full flower cycle in fabric pots!
Day 02 - Tuesday - 07/16/24 - Total Days: 141
-----------------------------------
Daily Averages [~01:00]
- Temps: 85.1°F [29.5°C]
- Humidity: 72.1%
- VPD: 1.12 kPa
- Soil %: [51, 32, 40, 31]
-----------------------------------
- [11:39]: Decided to adjust the 4x4 flower tent’s environment a bit more.
--- Within the AC Infinity App,
--- For the Main Tent [4x4] controller,
--- Adjusted the 'Flower [12/12]' Schedule for the exhaust fan.
------ Decreased the Humidity’s HIGH trigger value from 73% to 71%
--- Adjusted the 'Flower [12/12]' Schedule for the humidifier.
------ Increased the VPD target value from 1.3kPa to 1.4kPa
- [20:20]: Night check on the 4x4 flower tent.
--- Wow it’s been hot! But looking good ladies!
--- Overall growth is looking great!
--- Still have signs of heat stress, but growing along nicely!
--- The GGC2024 plant is looking green and bud growth is starting to swell up!
- [20:22]: Checked down both fill tubes.
--- Both reservoirs were completely dry!
- [20:24]: Checked the Ecowitt soil moisture sensor data:
--- 50% - [CH01 EB1 - Garlic Budder #1]

--- 31% - [CH06 FPT - Original Garlic Budder #2]
--- 36% - [CH07 FPT - Garlic Budder #4]
--- Okay! Before watering,
- [20:27]: Going to try super-cropping for the first time! Going to be applying this high-stress training technique on the 3 main flowering phenos.
--- Using my fingers, I gently pinched the main stalk. I choose the location based on the general height of the overall canopy.
--- I pinched around the whole stalk and gave the area a few vertical twists.
--- Once the area was evenly softened, gently bent the stalk 90° in the desired direction.
--- Repeated this process for each plant.
--- Super-cropped a total of 6 branches,
--- Mainly trying to remove apical dominance and even out the canopy.
- [20:41]: Done!
--- To help with healing and to give support for heavier bud weight, going to add garden yo-yos.
--- Added one yo-yo to 4 of the branches super-cropped.
--- Nice! The canopy is a whole lot more even!
--- Will probably add more yo-yos later.
--- Also will take new height and PPFD readings in a couple days.
- [20:57]: Poured 2 cups of distilled water down EB1’s fill tube.
--- Poured 2 cups of distilled water down EB2’s fill tube.
- [21:04]: Filled a pump sprayer with 5 cups of distilled water.
------ Added 1/64tsp of Quillaja Saponaria Extract [60]
--- Gave the sprayer a good shake before spraying the entire solution onto #4’s straw mulch.
--- Focused mainly on the straw.
- [21:15]: Took the total weight of the GGC2024 (a #1 pheno).
--- She weighed 272.5g
--- It’s been 2 days since her last watering.
--- Time to water!
--- While on a scale,
--- Gently misted her straw mulch with distilled water.
--- Tried to keep the top growth dry.
--- Misted 5-10 sprays. Waited a few seconds, then misted again.
- [21:24]: Repeated this process until the cup weighed 403.3g
--- There was no runoff.
--- Marked the watering date on the side of the cup.
--- Decided to add an Ecowitt meter to the cup. I had the extra sensor so might as well use it.
--- This added about 64.4g to the overall dry weight (now there’s about 125g total of extra weight).
--- The new saturated weight is 467.7g
--- Plan to water again once the weight gets to around 475g.
--- Hope I didn’t damage the roots too much.
- [21:34]: Updated the sensor name in the App.
--- Nice! Now I’ll be able to check the soil moisture to help with future solo cup waterings! Hyped!
--- Placed her back into the tent.
- [21:37]: Checked on the clones and #3 in the 3x3 veg tent,
--- Wow! It’s a jungle!
--- Growth has pretty much almost reached the light.
--- Need to top these ladies soon.
--- #3 is looking green and growth is looking like she’s back to full veg! As far as growth morphology, she has been the squattest of all the phenos.
--- Solo cups looked great and did not need watering.
- [21:43]: Filled a pump sprayer with 4 cups of distilled water.
------ Added 1/64tsp of Quillaja Saponaria Extract [60]
--- Gave the sprayer a good shake before spraying the entire solution onto #1’s straw mulch.
--- Focused mainly on the straw.
- [21:59]: Repeated this process again for the original #2 pheno.
--- Focused mainly on the straw.
- [22:00]: Checked the humidifiers.
--- Refilled the humidifiers with distilled water as needed.

- [21:32]: Poured 2 cups of distilled water down EB1’s fill tube.
--- Poured 2 cups of distilled water down EB2’s fill tube.
- [21:37]: Decided to add two more garden yo-yos.
--- Now all branches that were super-cropped have a yo-yo for support.
- [21:54]: Checked on the clones and #3 in the 3x3 veg tent,
--- Wow! Okay now the clones are a bit too tall.
--- I could super-crop, but just going to top.
- [21:56]: Using a pair of trimmers,
--- Cut the main stalk for all three clones.
--- Went a bit hard and pretty much cut them in half. Mulched the trimmings onto the EarthBoxes in the 4x4 tent.
--- Solo cups looked great and did not need watering.
- [22:13]: Checked the humidifiers.
--- Refilled the humidifiers with distilled water.
--- I hope I did not top the plants too much, but with a good two months before the next cycle, there should be enough time for recovery. I think.
--- Based on the soil moisture readings, going to be watering tomorrow. Hyped!

--- Onwards Ensign!
[END OF WEEK 20|13]
Very detailed diary. I like ur heater. Something I don't need but definitely want 1 lol..
Look forward to seen how you adapt this to pushing your grows forward.
@gottagrowsometime,
Thanks growmie! Yea, sometimes I can get a bit too detailed, but this is all just for fun!
Been using Ac Infinity's Thermoforge T3 heater for just over 2 weeks and have to say that it's the best! Highly recommend! The unit easily heats a 4x4ft grow tent along with my 10x10ft lung room. Keep in mind that it never snows where I live, but it can get pretty cold in the winter (Southern California - US). What's most impressive is that in combination with the Cloudforge T7, my overall weekly VPD averages have been a lot more stable! Also the day to night temp swings have been greatly reduced (less than 10 degrees/percent difference on the weekly temps/RH averages).
I see you're running Build-A-Soil.. Great company, products, ethics! The dude has a sweet youtube channel as well worth checking out if you haven't. Cheers good luck!
