Introduction - Week 16|09 Summary -
Ensign's log, stardate 9475.90,
What a week of growing!
Growth in the 4x4 has been incredible to say the least! Can already see signs of flowering and wow these ladies can stretch!
Decided to move #3 into the veg tent. Sort of forgot about my legal plant count of 6. This will free up flowering space for the GGC2024 grow. Also makes #3 my first mother plant!
Also took cuttings of the original #1 pheno (in the back). Stoked on how well the overall cloning process has been going. Already can tell that some of the clones in the solo cups are easily going to make it. Already had to water one of them, and am pretty sure going to need to water the rest next week.
Oh, been letting the EarthBoxes dry out a bit (soil moisture was getting a bit too high) and will most likely start watering again next week.
Wow! Growth for the most part has been better than ever!
Onwards Ensign! Steady as she grows!

Day 01 - Monday - 06/17/24 - Total Days: 112
-----------------------------------
Daily Averages [~01:00]
- Temps: 82.8°F [28.2°C]
- Humidity: 75.7%
- VPD: 0.91 kPa
- Soil %: [55, 45, 33, 36]
-----------------------------------
- [22:17]: Night check on the 4x4 flower tent.
--- Wow the garden is raging with growth!
--- For the most part, this has been a water only run and I am just surprised with the growth!
--- All of the phenos are looking perky and happy!
--- No signs of flowering quite yet as these ladies continue to stretch upwards!
--- At this rate, will most likely be using garden yo-yos to support some of these in later flower.
--- Or similar to last grow, may add a layer of support netting.
- [22:18]: Checked down both fill tubes.
--- Both reservoirs were completely dry!
- [22:22]: Checked the Ecowitt soil moisture sensor data:
--- 53% - [CH01 EB1 - Garlic Budder #1]
--- 45% - [CH02 EB2 - Garlic Budder #2]
--- 33% - [CH03 GFP - Garlic Budder #3]
--- 34% - [CH04 FPT - Garlic Budder #4]
- [22:25]: Poured 4 cups of distilled water down EB1’s fill tube.
--- Poured 2 cups of distilled water down EB2’s fill tube.
- [22:32]: Checked on the propagation dome (in the 3x3 veg tent),
--- To refresh the air, lifted the top off for a bit.
--- Growth is still looking green!
--- Using a spray bottle, misted the top growth with distilled water.
- [22:34]: Checked on the clones (in the 3x3 veg tent),
--- Ooo yea! Looking good ladies! Yellowing, on some, but still growing!
--- Still surprised that most of the cuttings rooted! Was honestly expecting a few at most.
--- Hyped!
--- Using a spray bottle, misted the top growth with distilled water.
- [22:36]: Took the total weight of one of the clones (GGC2024 - #1 pheno).
--- She weighed 313.9g
--- It’s been a day since the last watering.
--- Going for a dry weight of around 235g before watering back to around 325g so not going to water today.
--- Hmm.. Oops.
- [22:39]: Decided to move pheno #3 from the main 4x4 flower tent to the 3x3 veg tent.
--- Currently, I have 6 plants under 12/12 lighting. Four phenos are being logged, while the other two are just left to grow (been training on the side).
--- Since I am growing in the state of California,
--- Just realized that when I flip one of these clones to flower in a week or so (for the GGC2024), I’ll be exceeding the legal limit of 6 flowering plants.
--- Oops.
--- I honestly did not expect the original two phenos (in the back of both EarthBoxes) to make it through veg.
--- It’s only been a week since the 12/12 flip so growth should not be affected, but going to re-veg her under an 18/6 light cycle.
- [22:46]: After a bit of re-arranging,
--- Moved the #3 pheno into the 3x3 veg tent.
--- Using a spray bottle, misted the top growth with distilled water.
--- Nice! This also frees up a bit more space in the main 4x4 tent. Also now the flowering count is down to 5 in total.
--- Since #3 is going back into veg, I won’t be able to sample her until the next grow cycle.
--- Also the logs are going to be a bit weird, but just going to keep on logging and growing!
--- On the positive side, #3 has inadvertently become my first mother plant!
--- So in a way, I‘ve just reached another milestone!
--- My current goal is to maintain at least four different mother plants. Now I have one! Cool!
- [22:54]: Checked the humidifiers.
--- Refilled the humidifiers with distilled water.
--- Starting to get hyped for the next grow cycle!
--- If all goes well, by the time this grow is harvested and dried, I should have at least 4 healthy mother plants to take cuttings for the next grow! Going to be will be a clone to harvest cycle!
--- Stoked!
Day 02 - Tuesday - 06/18/24 - Total Days: 113

--- To refresh the air, lifted the top off for a bit.
--- Growth is looking pretty good! For the most part green and happy!
--- Moved the #1 clone closer to the middle of the dome (away from the LED bar).
--- Using a spray bottle, misted the top growth with distilled water.
--- I think the leaf damage is light burn.
--- I wonder if I can order another set of height extension panels.
--- Or so save money,
--- I just need to raise the bar lights above the dome a bit.
--- Or the bar lights can be mounted to the ceiling of the tent and adjust the intensity (28W at max).
- [20:16]: Checked on the clones and #3 (in the 3x3 veg tent),
--- Growth is looking good!
--- Clones are continuing to recover from the transplant shock.

--- There were no roots on the #2 cutting but that’s okay (only been under the dome for 5 days).
--- Time to water!
- [17:52]: Filled a measuring cup with 1 cup of distilled water.
------ Added a pinch of Quillaja Saponaria Extract [60]
------ Added 1/32tsp of Horticultural Coconut

--- She weighed 278.9g
--- While on the scale,
--- Gently misted the straw mulch.
--- Focused on the straw.
--- Misted 5-10 sprays. Waited a few seconds, then misted again.
- [18:01]: Repeated this process until the cup weighed ~325g
--- There was no runoff.
--- Placed the cup back into the tent and under her dome.
- [18:07]: Poured the rest of the solution into a clear solo cup.

- [22:03]: Checked on the clones (in the 3x3 veg tent),
--- Ooo yea! Growth all around looks great!
--- Completely surprised how many cuttings rooted!
--- I only need one healthy plant per pheno (6 in total). This is looking like a very good possibility, I’ll be able to!
--- The grow cycle will be a clone run, but still deciding on what and how I am growing.
--- Really digging the healthy growth with #4 (my first solo cup and one of my first fabric pot grow) so might swap out the EarthBoxes and run fabric pots.
--- Most likely, I’ll continue to run the EarthBoxes. Similarly, will also run a fabric pot or two.
--- Have plenty of time before the next cycle so not in any hurry to decide.
--- Just hyped with how well this grow is going!
- [22:12]: Took the total weight of one of the clones (GGC2024 - #1 pheno).

- [20:23]: Checked on the clones (in the 3x3 veg tent),
--- Nice! Growth is still looking pretty healthy!
--- There are a few burn leaves, but wow!
--- Wow! Can already clearly see noticeable height differences.
--- Some of the these ladies are beginning to stretch upwards with new growth!
--- Stoked!
- [20:25]: Decide to remove the humidity domes from the recently planted clones (#1 and the original #2 phenos).
--- Not really a proper hardening off, but better than nothing.
--- Plus most of the clones in the tent were not hardened off and are growing just fine.
--- Also been keeping the environment in the 3x3 at a low VPD (~0.8) so humidity has been pretty high (~78%).
--- Using a spray bottle, misted the top growth in the propagation dome with distilled water.

- [21:25]: Dropped 3 Coco Coin into the measuring cup.
--- The coins immediately started to expand.
--- [~10 minutes later]
--- Took a Coco Coin and slightly shook enough moisture out so it wasn’t dripping, yet still pretty saturated.
--- Temporarily set the Coco Coin in a half-cut solo cup.
- [21:38]: Using a squeeze bottle filled with Clonex,
--- Gently filled the pre-made hole with Clonex rooting gel.
- [21:41]: Time to start planting the original #1 cuttings!
--- Using a pair of clean trimmers, made a 45° cut through the bottom node.
--- Then stripped away and scared some of the stem’s outer membrane before planting.
--- Made sure the node was at least a good 1" below the surface of the coco.
- [21:47]: Once the cutting was planted, placed her into the propagation dome.
--- Had to move the #2 cutting (only have one cut of this pheno).
--- Tried to keep the cuttings in the center row (in between the bar lights).
--- Made sure to mark the spot where the cutting was placed (OG #1).
--- Also wiped the trimmers with isopropyl alcohol in between cuttings.
- [21:59]: Repeated this process until all 3 cuttings were cut, planted, and in the tray.
--- While moving the #2 cutting, noticed that she rooted!
--- Time to transplant the rooted cuttings!
- [22:20]: Took the #2 rooted clone and inoculated her roots with some Great White mycorrhizae.
------ Sprinkled about an 1/16tsp of Great White
--- Made sure to coat the roots as evenly as possible.

--- Gently misted the straw mulch.
--- Focused on the straw.
--- Misted 5-10 sprays. Waited a few seconds, then misted again.
- [22:44]: Repeated this process until the cup weighed 324.1g
--- There was no runoff.
--- Placed the cup back onto the tent’s floor.
--- Also covered the clone with a humidity dome (sprayed with distilled water). Vents are fully closed.
--- Similar to last time, using 4 clear solo cups as height boosters for the dome.
- [22:46]: Checked the humidifiers.
--- Refilled the humidifiers with distilled water.
--- Wow what a day! Did a lot more planting than I was expecting. Nice!
--- Also, the warm Cali summer weather is starting to ramp up in my local area! The grow room is starting to get hot and humid once more. Anyways,
--- Keep on growing Ensign!
--- Maximum warp! Engage!

--- Looking good girls!
--- Wow growth looks green and happy!
--- Checked on the clones (in the 3x3 veg tent),
--- Veg tent is growing along surprisingly smooth and looking great!
--- #3 is clearly showing signs of flowering. So I guess she will need to go through a full re-veg period.
--- She should begin to re-veg within 2-3 weeks. I think.
--- Similar to toping or FIMing, each flowering top will eventually split off into multiple vegging tops.
--- As this is my first time, I’m not sure how long this will really take, but here goes nothing! Just keep on growing!
--- Using a spray bottle, misted the top growth in the propagation dome with distilled water.
--- Also misted the top growth on the floor.
- [19:40]: Took the total weight of one of the clones (GGC2024 - #1 pheno).

--- Although, most likely will be watering a few tomorrow.
- [19:46]: Checked the humidifiers.
--- Refilled the humidifiers with distilled water.
--- Done! What a week!
--- As the ladies in the main 4x4 finish up stretching (I hope), another week of flower done!
--- Also can’t believe how well the growth has been in the 3x3 veg tent. Really did not expect the cloning to go so well. Almost wish I just took one cutting from each pheno. Almost! Cloning is too much fun!
--- Getting a bit concerned about the heat, but gonna keep on growing!
--- Anyways, onwards to next week!
[END OF WEEK 16|09]
Very detailed diary. I like ur heater. Something I don't need but definitely want 1 lol..
Look forward to seen how you adapt this to pushing your grows forward.
@gottagrowsometime,
Thanks growmie! Yea, sometimes I can get a bit too detailed, but this is all just for fun!
Been using Ac Infinity's Thermoforge T3 heater for just over 2 weeks and have to say that it's the best! Highly recommend! The unit easily heats a 4x4ft grow tent along with my 10x10ft lung room. Keep in mind that it never snows where I live, but it can get pretty cold in the winter (Southern California - US). What's most impressive is that in combination with the Cloudforge T7, my overall weekly VPD averages have been a lot more stable! Also the day to night temp swings have been greatly reduced (less than 10 degrees/percent difference on the weekly temps/RH averages).
I see you're running Build-A-Soil.. Great company, products, ethics! The dude has a sweet youtube channel as well worth checking out if you haven't. Cheers good luck!
