Introduction - Week 18|11 Summary - Ensign's log, stardate 9513.85, Another great week of growing! Transplanted some clones into fabric pots and am starting to re-think the next grow cycle. After this harvest, going to retire the EarthBoxes and am going to do a complete fabric pot cycle! Still completely surprised that all 13 clones rooted! Had way too many clones! Gifted a handful away but still have a few remain extras (may have to cull them). Wow it’s been getting hot in the grow lung room! Dimmed the light down a bit to reduce the heat. I think heat is more damaging then lowering the PPFD levels. Also did another round of defoliation. Steady as she grows! Perfect! - [17:08]: Gently removed the solo cup from the fabric pot leaving a perfect hole. ------ Sprinkled 1/4tsp of Great White, --- Dusted the sides of each hole. --- Also sprinkled a bit around the top soil. --- Great! Time to transplant! --- It’s been a day since #1’s last watering. - [17:14]: Gently flipped #1 upside-down which dropped straight out of her cup. --- Wow! Roots look nice and white! --- There is a bit of browning on the corners where the roots have air pruned, --- Did not break the root ball. --- Gently placed her into the pre-inoculated hole. - [17:15]: Pressed and evened out the top soil. --- Time for the #4 pheno! - [17:14]: Gently flipped her upside-down which dropped straight out of her cup. --- White roots! Very nice! --- Did not break the root ball. --- Gently placed her into the pre-inoculated hole. - [17:15]: Pressed and evened out the top soil. --- I don’t have enough Ecowitt meters. --- Need to get more. --- Also, don’t have enough straw for a mulch covering. --- More on the way along with the soil. - [17:34]: Placed both back into the tent. --- Re-arranged the tent a bit. --- Now have 3 extra clones! There seems to be some leaf stress (heat or light stress, or most likely root issues), but bud growth is continuing to swell up! --- #4 is now dominating! Growth is looking insanely healthy! Wow! --- Also the GGC2024 clone is looking nice and perky! - [19:22]: Checked down both fill tubes. --- Both reservoirs were completely dry! - [19:31]: Poured 5 cups of distilled water down EB1’s fill tube. --- Did not water EB2. - [19:40]: Filled a pump sprayer with 5 cups of distilled water. ------ Added 1/32tsp of Quillaja Saponaria Extract [60] --- Gave the sprayer a good shake before spraying the entire solution onto #4’s straw mulch. --- Focused mainly on the straw. - [19:57]: Checked the humidifiers. --- Refilled the humidifiers with distilled water. --- [*smokes a bowl] --- I’m not sure what is wrong with the plants growing in the EarthBoxes, but growth is still impressive! --- #4 is crushing it in the fabric pot! --- So far, based on the health and ease, this may be the last cycle using EarthBoxes. At least until I get better at growing. --- Plan to re-use the soil, but will be growing in fabric pots (5-gallon and/or 7-gallon). --- Just trying to dynamically plan as I go along (basically just winging it). --- Also since I’m gradually transitioning into a perpetual grow style, these grow logs are going to start overlapping and will be covering two cycles. --- The next log will cover the girls in the veg tent as they flip into flower. It will also cover the cloning and veg stages for the next cycle (maybe even some seed popping). --- Plan to eventually expand the logs to cover 8 soil meters soon (4 for each tent). Day 03 - Wednesday - 07/03/24 - Total Days: 128 ----------------------------------- Daily Averages [~01:00] - Temps: 83.6°F [28.7°C] - Humidity: 74.6% - VPD: 0.98 kPa - Soil %: [32, 37, 28, 36] ----------------------------------- - [19:26]: Night check on the 4x4 flower tent. --- Garden is looking pretty good! --- #4 is looking great! There does seem to be a bit of leaf damage beginning to develop. --- The phenos in the EarthBoxes are looking perky, but the leaves are getting crispy. --- Hmm. Since I am also starting to see this on #4 (on a couple of upper fan leaves), I think this might be heat and or light damage? --- Since I cannot cool this tent down, just going to grow on. The summer cycles are always rough. --- The GGC2024 plant is looking happy and growth is still green! - [19:28]: Checked down both fill tubes. --- EB1's reservoir was completely dry! --- EB2's reservoir still has some water. --- Changed the battery for the #3 soil sensor. - [19:38]: Checked the Ecowitt soil moisture sensor data: --- 32% - [CH01 EB1 - Garlic Budder #1] --- 36% - [CH02 EB2 - Garlic Budder #2] --- 28% - [CH03 GFP - Garlic Budder #3] --- 35% - [CH04 FPT - Garlic Budder #4] --- To help with temps decided to dim the light a bit. - [19:39]: Within the AC Infinity App, --- For the Main Tent [4x4] controller, --- Adjusted the 'Flower [12/12]' Schedule for the grow light. ------ Decreased the MAX from 4 to 3 --- The FC-6500 is now utilizing around 204.4W (at intensity 2 out of 10). --- Will take PPFD readings tomorrow. --- Adjusted the 'Flower [12/12]' Schedule for the humidifier. ------ Increased the VPD target value from 1.1kPa to 1.2kPa --- Will adjust these levels later as needed. - [19:28]: Poured 5 cups of distilled water down EB1’s fill tube. --- Did not water EB2. - [20:01]: Checked on the clones and #3 on the floor, --- Growth is looking good! --- #3 is getting a bit droopy, but growth is vegging along. Can’t believe I got 100% rooting. Next time plan to take only one cutting (at most two) from each pheno. --- Also been growing in fabric pots and plan to retire the EarthBoxes after this cycle. Plan to re-use the soil so should have enough to fill a few 7-gallon grassroots fabric pots. Not looking forward to cleaning them. --- As far as the leaf damage in the 4x4 tent, still not completely sure what’s wrong. --- But compared to the vegging girls in the 3x3 tent, I think it has to either be heat or light stress. --- The PPFD levels are closer to veg (~455 μmol/m²/s), --- Since leaf damage is also present on #4, I’m pretty sure it has to be the heat. I think. @gottagrowsometime, Thanks growmie! Yea, sometimes I can get a bit too detailed, but this is all just for fun! Been using Ac Infinity's Thermoforge T3 heater for just over 2 weeks and have to say that it's the best! Highly recommend! The unit easily heats a 4x4ft grow tent along with my 10x10ft lung room. Keep in mind that it never snows where I live, but it can get pretty cold in the winter (Southern California - US). What's most impressive is that in combination with the Cloudforge T7, my overall weekly VPD averages have been a lot more stable! Also the day to night temp swings have been greatly reduced (less than 10 degrees/percent difference on the weekly temps/RH averages).
